Celtic v Aberdeen, Scottish Cup Semi-Final Match Thread

There are times in life when you have to hold your hands up and admit that you were wrong. If Tom rogic was sold in the summer, I would have said fair enough as I believed that we had seen the best of a great servant to the club. I was also part of the get rid of lenny especially after the scum game. I am so glad to say today, that I was so wrong on both counts.
Tom rogic is still such a huge player for us and his class, intelligence and quality still remains unquestionable.
As for lenny his response since the HUN match has been that of a true celt, when the chips are down we will come out fighting.
I did believe he couldn't get the best out of these players, wrong again. What we saw today in the first half today and also against lille is what we have become so used to from a Celtic team, good football with brilliant goals.
Like most of us I expected us to kick on in the 2nd half and really turn the sheep into a ball of wool. I was also getting annoyed at lenny for not making the subs after an hour as anyone could see some of our players were out on there feet no more so than broony imo.
Upon reflection I know think this was a brilliant bit of management from lenny. Why? I believe now lenny was using the 2nd half in order to work upon seeing out a game in the right Manor. Course we could have went on to score more goals but seeing out the game in the Manor that we did, while as tired as we were, I believe was far more beneficial and a brilliant confidence booster moving forward for matches ahead.
So happy for duffy to get a good solid preformance behind him. Lenny also has a great insight now into how many minutes he can get from his players when you have tough pressure games coming thick and fast without much recovery time.
And the real beauty about today apart from another cup final to look forward to, is that we can and will get even better. Players coming back trying to get into this team will now know what the expectations and demand in quality are now. Competition for places has been set and players coming in now know of the standards needed to be maintained in order to keep their place in the side.
A very pleasing day and well done to lenny and the bhoys

Well, there's no doubt that the last couple of games have proved to be much more encouraging than I'd thought they could ever be.

The first halves in both games were absolutely brilliant and far more like what we've been used to over the past few years. We now need to get a full 90mins like that under our belt.

I'm still not convinced NL is the man for the job long term.

That being said...If he manages to turn the performances around this season and guide us to the quadtreb and 10IAR he will go down as one of the biggest legends in the club's 132yr unbroken history.

His name will be part of the folklore that runs through this unbelievable football team which was formed for all the right reasons way back in the nineteenth century. He would be talked about in the future by todays younger generation in the same hushed tones that many of us on here still talk about Stein, Johnstone, McNeill and the like.

I've been one of his biggest critics but no one will be happier than me if he stays and turns it round.

I'll quite happily scoff down large slice of humble pie with a topping of idiot sauce if we scoop the league this season, and I'll eat it with a massive smile on my face.

As I said earlier, I'm still not convinced he's the man for the job, but there's been such a notable improvement in the last two games from everything I've seen before this season that I'm prepared to be less vocal in future and see where this fork in the road takes us.

Buzzing through my hangover 😜 brilliant brilliant brilliant big rogic back with a swagger and to think we were ready to sell him to the desert, Aberdeen's tormentor not done yet by a long way. 2 brilliant assists the first so simple but took 2 Don's players out for Christie to score that special goal the 2nd assist was something else. Really buzzing for him this morning it feels like so long since weve seen this from him. On the game what a relief before the start that hayes was out , he was the biggest concern for me hes so clever and fast. Loved seeing broony go shoulder to waist with big cosgrove and put him on his arse 🤣 my brother was worried about it being a penalty but the ball wasnt in play or it might've been fair shove or not. Credit to them for a decent second half performance but we blew them away in that first 45. We really needed this result and now December 20 is the day we can do a 4th treble , a 4th treble ? Unreal , really is stuff of fantasy but we can do that 💪 super fantastic heids bustin well worth it HH 👏👏💚

Don't know what telly you were watching but except for a glaring mistake I thought Bitton had a excellent game and the more Duffy plays beside him the better Duffy will be. People tend to forget C H is not Nir's natural position.
Yes he made a glaring mistake and if duffy had to make the same glaring mistake he would have got slaughtered, but when it's bitton it's the usual " he only made one glaring mistake". It seems to me that certain players as Billy Connolly would say have a license to shit in the street and can do no wrong, while others no matter what they do can do no right. Cal Mac is one, Christie is another, Tierney was another and bitton seems to be on that list too. If you go back and watch the game again you'll see the amount of ball that Bitton kicked to the opposition, but that's ok because he's playin out of position. Had Duffy done the same it would be the usual "he's a donkey"!

I wouldnt want his job khenny the pressure must be ten times my hangover

Can't disagree with that m8, especially this season. Sometimes pressure is like a drug for certain people though. They can't live without it even though they know they'd probably be much healthier and happier without it.

Exactly like a drug in fact.
Very true was so good to see lenny with a smile back on his face post match interview. We so need that positivity from him and we all know the telly have been zooming in on him cos hes having a seat arms crossed but never any other time.

Bitton made one glaring mistake today.... Duffy makes more than one every time he sets foot on the park ergo Duffy (at this moment in his Celtic career) is a very poor investment and would be thought of among many as being a 'bombscare'. Bitton is seen as reliable..... not perfect, just a reliable classy footballer. The fact that he is playing out of position, and is recovering from bubonic plague only adds to the versatility that he offers NL, whilst Duffy is seen as a liability. Not too complicated for most. I mean no disrespect. Just a different opinion.

Like ive said before, re watch the game and you'll see the amount of ball bitton gave away. And I don't buy this out of position nonsense. Either he's fit to play there or he's not. Ajer is out of position too when played there. I've nothing against bitton, I actually like him. My whole argument is if Duffy done what he done yesterday we would have been listening to donkey this bomb scare that. It's unfair. As my mother used to say making fish of one and flesh of another. Totally uncalled for.

I am not saying Duffy will not come good eventually but up to this point he has been a liability. He has not been playing to his strengths. To hide him behind Bitton is grossly unfair to Bitton. Even Efe Ambrose whom everyone regarded as a bombscare had 10 times the technical abilty that Duffy has.... he just forgot to use it sometimes

I am not hidin him behind anyone. He played well yesterday and made no mistakes yet he is still being called a bomb scare. I was comparing his performance to bittons yesterday. Where bitton gave a lot of ball away under no pressure, as did Christie. But fuck all was said about either of them, yet Duffy who didn't put a foot wrong is still labled a donkey. People have blinkers on. If you're gonna call one player out then call them all out. That's my point.

Bitton made more than one mistake yesterday if you watch again he gave up possession needlessly a few times Duffy played well the players the managers the supporters, US we all needed that big time and we got it theres so many ways we can create history no. Of consecutive trebles no.of consecutive trophies, no. Of consecutive top flight titles. That's what we do Celtic we truly are the club that keeps on giving, so true that statement

Some cross ball Duffy played into moi I think who crossed but Christie had believed it wouldnt reach him

No mate.... just give him time to stop 'being a donkey' then maybe we will all grow to love him a bit more. Have things to do today so I won;t keep up the back and forth with you. Just agree to disagree.
