Good comparison, as just like back then!
no one in the 'british mindset' was allowing anyone to speak a bad word about another supposed british hero, kindly old gent.
royal marine sir james saville buried with british pomp & ceremony.

Just accept the narrative and keep quiet

if you can't say a kind word then say nothing!

Like most all british old sayings, it makes little if any real life sense.

Keeping quiet unless you can say something nice?
What even when you know its Bullshit and wrong!

The one who posted it! are you sure you never say a bad word? If so well done you!
A Saint!
But if not then you are just selectively and hypocritically quoting a silly old british saying, cherished if not invented by the likes of parasites and criminals who don't want anyone actually questioning past events?
phillip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg's mate sir jimmy saville would applaud the saying though.

You can't expect people who have been effected by british colonialism lot to just nod along and stay quiet about the very source of it!
The so called royals! where exactly do some of you imagine they got so many palaces from?

The morons of the newco are easy pickings but to just laugh at them and selectively keep quiet is for hypocrites and cowardly weak ignorant minds.

Just accept the british colonials perverse simple narratives, nod along and you are part of it!

Those few humans in history actually worthy of looking up to, Rosa Parks for obvious example,

How does the just keep quiet nod along and do or say nothing work.

Hatred is hatred mate, hating because of wealth or poverty, hating because of differing religions, hating because of race, hating because of privilege or deprivation its all the same, it's a poison.
I'm fucking strange I'm first to admit it, raised a protestant, turned to Catholicism, became a Buddhist, if anyone out there can convince me that hating folk different to me will improve my life I'll be all ears.
My belief and hope is that the Celtic family can act with decency in these times, no need to agree with, no need to eulogise, equally no need for rabid hatred.
Sorry Hoopy
I have no problem hating the royal family, loyalist and serco scum (SS)
The reason why is simple!
I hate for what they all stand for, the countless lives they have destroyed and remain doing.
Would the world be a better place without these bastards?
Sure it would
Do they deserve respect?
Fuck all will be given from me while they still exist.
Only 1 of the bastards down, still plenty more of them to go yet to find real happiness

So having questioned your simple narrative of phillip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg's supposed actual care of other people's children!

Hoopy427:
Not in my nature to celebrate a death, so instead I'll raise a glass to a life, he was highlighting environmental issues 40 years before anyone else in the public eye had thought of it, the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme gave empowerment and confidence to more than 5m kids world wide, so cheers ya old bugger, you lived quite a life.
Lets examine
phillip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg's so called concern for the environment?
phil SHSG actually appears to not ever have been any great scientific thinker!

His aired concerns essentially (and ironically) amounted to - too many poor looking human beings being born to poor looking human beings are too blame!

As he preached - the blissfully rude & selectively ignorant and permanently arrogant hypocrite phillip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg had four kids of his own while living a life of extreme perverse luxury and excess.

The other side of the simple british narrative -
The so called brit royals! a small few who have and continue to use resources that would have served several entire nations of the poorest parts on the same planet.

That was me Toffeebhoy, and what I said was "i was always taught that if you couldn't say something nice about someone dont say anything at all" and I left the rest of the post blank.

Obviously your the only scouser without a sense of humour, and as for the rest of the crap you posted, well just lets leave it at crap shall we, I posted a few other comments about quarter gills passing which you obviously missed.

Just my luck eh a scouser with no humour 😂😂

Touche!😂

note: It is possible that some personal Saxe Coburg Gotha or Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg family funds were used in said cyborg project, as there would have been plenty of compound interest from those billions amassed prior by associated ancestral terrorist crime colonialism.
But highly unlikely as only the working class tend to pay as they go along.

To summarize
Phillip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg was a ludicrously privileged systemically rude arrogant ignorant keen racist living-deid cyborg, had likely been clinically demised for a decade or more, kept alive by a team of the very best doctors all at the tax payers expense; while the parents and children of those same tax payers who pay for the perverse soap opera, most of whom meekly in ignorance just nod along in idolatry, never question and feel lucky to be on a waiting list.

The threads were deleted for good reason.
I've no time for any of the royals but i refuse to gloat over the death of someone's dad or grandad.
Look at it another way. How would we feel if someone with Celtic connections passed away and threads on FF were gloating? I hope we're better than that. Nothing more to say on the matter.

Ha I joined pissed one night after the second Sparta defeat. In lockdown with no one to bump my gums at. If we had won that night you may have been spared my excrement.
I’m quite sure that this year has been a season like no other. I wish I’d joined when we were winning 🙈
So back to topic.
I saw posts celebrating/rejoicing his demise and went straight to comment in a fit.
I agree that the coverage is extreme. I find that more offensive than anything. It’s verging on ridiculous. The same people who correctly called him out for his comments have conveniently forgotten their own coverage and now worship same as a superman whom we were blessed to have. Those same comments are now classed as ‘off the cuff’ and ‘breaking the ice in his own way in difficult situations’.
But, I don’t think those that are speaking of different times are really trying to defend him. Merely stating the fact what’s unacceptable now was ‘acceptable’ then. Best example I can give is when I say at my maws one night many moons ago. Save the coking and the dishes mum and I’ll treat us to a chinky. The nieces put me in my place. For 25/30 years it wasn’t offensive but as times moved it was considered different. Now I don’t give a flying fuck what creed, colour or religion I meet, were all born the same way so all should have the same rights. If you tell me your offended then I apologise and change my way. Not because it’s politically correct, but because if it’s viewed as offensive then by rights it is.
so long story short if you, I or others look back, by today’s standards we’ve all been racist by default. Again, this is not in defence of him, merely offering an insight into the post you mention that I never saw.
The other point you make is again fair enough. The mods (wonder what weller thinks ) are in a position. They’re damned either way. I do not think for a second they wanted to take that action, they are very liberal which you make the point of. In fact I’d go as far as say they possibly wrestled with it and against their gut pulled them. Personally I think that it’s unfair of people to assume that they are restricting their right to free speech as though they’ve taken the moral high ground. Like a father with children, sometimes you’ve got to make difficult decisions for the good of your own. The site is a godsend to many of us, they have ponied up and IMO protected what we have for our own sakes. Difficult decisions are such for a reason.
I did notice that after pulling the threads WC had taken the rest of the day off 🤣

I think the only things we really differ on here STG is whether the threads should have been pulled and maybe our reactions to what was being said.

Only points I would add is that I wouldn't necessarily say people were defending Prince Philip's racism it was more like they were trying to excuse it…like it wasn't really relevant or it was of little consequence.

It's relevant because nobody has a right to airbrush history to make it more palatable for themselves, if the media and others are going to eulogise about the man's 'achievements' then they also have to be honest and open about the man's 'faults' and accept that not everybody has the same level of respect for him as they do and for very good reasons.

He was a man in an extremely privileged position who held influence in the UK and abroad and his words and attitudes had consequences, not just for the people he racially abused but for the emboldening of similar attitudes and behaviours in those he influenced.

Also I don't really buy into the premise of 'it's not acceptable now but it was then' or 'it wasn't considered offensive then but it is now'. It never was acceptable to those on the receiving end of it and it was just as offensive to those people then as it is to them now. Just because those dishing it out thought it wasn't offensive or thought it was acceptable doesn't make them right.
