Postecoglou Deal Done: “Might “Might as well be White Smoke from the Vatican,” or “Green Smoke from Celtic Park”

When you see the scores each week for the SWPL you're left wondering if the teams can defend or if the keepers can save a shot. Celtic 10-0, Glasgow City 6-2, rangers 6-0. There's aways hundreds of goals.
The Forfar keeper today had a great game, three brilliant saves and got plenty of other saves in too. Celtic were relentless. Played for a big win from the first to last minute. Some really classy players in our team (Robertson, Ewens, Filbey), they can defend as well. Threats from set-pieces 100% of the time...coaching.

There's been a big difference with the team since they went professional

Maybe WC you could inform us of the role the flowerpot men JK and strachan Jr have in any future plans, as it is certainly one of great concerns judging on last seasons preformance.
Would have expected a new manager with a far better coaching staff as I can't see how any manager could expect the turn around needed while those 2 are involved in any capacity
McKay can't saddle himself down with Lawwell baggage. He must know this. Kennedy is a decent guy, but had a chance to show what he could do and didn't take it. He really needs to look elsewhere now. Strachan could have been loved had he got Toney to come with him as per the plan, but like John McGinn...you know the rest. Some of the older generation blogs/fan media sites got way too close to the Board esp the CEO who seemed to have editorial control gifted to him. These sites are not the big ones anymore and the likes of Joe, James Forrest, myself (none of us daft wee laddies) are going to fall into that trap.

So was that the reason for Strachan getting hired, to bring Toney with him?
If that's the case , how is he still in a job. He loves his laptop, but he always has a confused look on his mug went trying to use it 🤣

This could be a potential disaster for McKay in making such an appointment and one that carries so much risk, I can only really see it being a smokescreen and maybe even testing the reaction.
We know that the board like to play there cards close to there chest, and will also assume that the Howe deal was dead in the water a good while ago, but none of this really matters now.
The next move this board makes will define just how much ambition our club really have or are we still going to sit back and let sevco scum (SS) still run amuck without even putting up a challenge

On the comment about fans media polishing a turd, I've not had a chance to read what other sites have been saying but I've been chatting to Joe at Video Celts and got the gist of James Forrest's opinion on Celtic Blog. We told you on Friday that Celtic were looking overseas for the new manager and that an appointment was expected this week. The news we reported today was out of Japan (it's a done deal) and Australia (yesterday I arranged for a Celtic supporter who is writing book On Brisbane Roar to give us an insight - an informed not emotional one - into to Postecoglou. He could have said negative things in the article and we'd still have published it as is. The only change made was to change grumpy old bastard to so-and-so for the same reasons that I have to edit Sandman's wonderful ratings.

I was at K-Park today - first time I've ever seen Celtic win 10-0 an it could have been 15 or even 20. The coach is outstanding - tactically, motivation wise, fitness, squad rotation to maximise the contribution from each player - just excellent. A foreign coach , never been in Scotland before , it was never going to work.

Howe is a decent coach. Getting offered the Celtic job should have been the highlight of his career. Turning it down might be this greatest regret. The fact that he did tells those of us who wanted him that we were wrong. I count myself in that category, barking up the wrong tree. It's better to find out now rather than in 3 or 6 months.

Postecoglou isn't to blame for that. When Ronny decided to go the plan was to sound out Moyes and Rodgers and see who was the keenest. Moyes was reluctant believing he could get a Premier League gig, but Rodgers was enthusiastic. Howe wasn't was he and I don't think that he fancied managing in Glasgow and all that involves.

Dom McKay is well aware of my views on a whole range of issues so there is communication channels opening up. He was scheduled to speak to fans media this week or next around the latest at the same time as the new manager.

So I don't know which sites are spinning as accused - but there is an interest and the sites including The Celtic Star have tried to get relevant information to supporters, who like us have been shocked by recent events.

My own view is that 1 July can't come quickly enough. HH
It’s great that there’s someone at the club engaging WC, shows there’s a refreshing attitude on the guy
Engagement with supporters is a positive
I noted what your article said about the Howe shenanigans the other day
You had a line about you’d heard from the club that it was down to XYZ
But, communication has its limits
Hearing the party line straight from the horses arse isn’t quite engagement with supporters
It’s still two bum cheeks making a sound no matter
And for all the engagement Dom McKay offers which I commend him on, it won’t make a blind bit of difference
He might hear us but the bellends above don’t

Yeah much needs to change. Those fans forums for example, before covid they'd get the fans in, give the soup, a roll and a free drink or two then take questions. "Why are the pies always cold in the North Stand Upper?' kind of thing. Then board notes afterwards that no-one asks or cares about Res12 (specifically as this happened) - even saying none of the fans know anything about it. That's not engagement that stacking the deck in your favour for your own devious ends.

The problem nowadays is proper fan engagement is viewed as a threat. They speak to the chosen few. Can’t have you lot of internet bampots at press conferences asking the questions that really represent our fan base. Instead we’ll allow the sneaky and most spiteful of the media in to ask the same questions. Then they write shite on us and puff pieces on them. You guys should be the people given the red carpet treatment. There’s no hidden motive and you represent us
Hopefully they embrace that rather than view it contemptuously
Big word that fir early hours

I say, Give the guy a chance FFS
At least he is keen to come here unlike Relegation man Howe the bottler
I’m nowe in that camp too docco
It’s an appointment that we’ve no choice but to deal with
And deal with it I will
We’re not huns and there’s no point destroying a guy who has done nothing wrong other than accepting the job offered
My lack of knowledge or ignorance to his career is my issue not his

I’ll save my ire for the suit type tories and pray he’s not standing in a bush as we go out to rapid

Well supposedly they had agreed a budget to overhaul the team. The board then said the cost for your backroom team will come out the Budget for the team. Howe said no, if that the case you will have to agree to increase my budget. To which the board said naw.
He's then said fuck that then, get someone else.
Personally don't think he bottled it. I think he thought will all the stories in the press that he was definitely taking the job, they board would have backed down.
He obviously didn't know Peter's reputation for walking away from deals for a few quid and not giving a fuck at how bad it makes the club look

When you look at the task ahead smg,
The 9iar was won with 13 and rising and in a season with so much at stake we go to 25 behind, much of with the same players, so a massive minus 38 point swing.
Now we are expecting a fair few of the better players we had to be leaving, or worse still they decide to stay and run there contracts down and leave for nothing.
Our non existing coaching was there for all to see yet we get the impression that JK had strachan Jr (flowerpot men) will be set to stay if the wizard of oz is going to be appointed.
All of our players have gone backwards in their careers and with others shattered, and we are expecting a whole new host of players to come to the club and put there careers at risk?
Now with this potential appointment with zero experience within European football and little to no knowledge of Scottish football I would expect, and can we honestly expect to make that size of a turn around in only a couple of weeks? The club is in one of the worst shambles for many a long year and can only see this potential appointment making things even worse than they already are imo
John it is obvious to most of us that we're going through a tough time, I honestly don't think that we have the leadership to get us out of the shit we are in, is it our absentee owner is PL still having an influence, I just don't see any of the current board being a leader, the greek/aussie, might surprise us, I don't know, for me the major problem is the system or lack of when it comes to the running of the club. Now if we get fergal as DoF and he has the strict job of running the football dept with no other distractions that's fine. Dom as ceo should then have only the corporate job of maximising income and keeping us in profit, if he re-builds bridges with the fans that's a bonus. The mgr for me is not the be all and end all of our current malaise, but just another symptom. Looking at last season, the opportunity to really put down a marker that we are the biggest team In Scotland was blown. Main culprit easy it is solely at the feet of PL. Hopefully we can see the last of him. HH
