Boycott called for

New team at the helm and we’re starting the season off up against it
We need to re-establish ourselves as the top team in Scotland
All the animosity needs to be put to one side for the moment
We need to get our season off to a flyer and give the new team a chance
By all means harbour the same resentment but new CEO deserves a chance to speak to us about these issues
Right now he’s busy trying to get players in and his foot on the gas
If he doesn’t come up with the goods on these issues then fair play to protest
But to come out with that just as we’re finding our new feet smacks of the look at me brigade
👍

Let's be honest here - there was extra kudos attached if you were Glaswegian and born from first, second or third generation Irish parents. There was even more credit attached if you went to the Chapel and accepted Christ as your saviour according to the Roman teachings.

But by being the type of club that we are, you could still be accepted if you didn't come from these traditional backgrounds. We welcomed players from all backgrounds and we welcomed supporters from all backgrounds.

Wait. Didn't someone -- was it Clay? -- infer that there is a sort of "litmus test" to be a Celtic fan, like being a STH since 1888, when Brother Walfrid personally delivered your season tickets, and attending every home and away game ever since, without fail, all while fighting fans outside McDiarmid Park (or was it Rugby Park) before the game?

And foreigners? Forget it. If you never stepped foot in Celtic Park because you're thousands of miles away, forget about even remotely considering yourself a Celtic fan, no matter how many scarves and jerseys you might own, let alone the time and effort watching and supporting the club by watching with your subscription to Celtic TV.

OK, OK. Sarcasm aside, you are right, SP: Celtic does welcome players and supporters from all backgrounds, and that is one of its many strengths. Full stop.

We've spent 10 months in limbo and for the first time throughout that period, we're beginning to experience a wee bit of hope that we're moving in the right direction again.

We won't forgive or forget what happened last season but, just for now, we ALL have to be singing from the same hymn sheet (and it doesn't even have to be Roman hymns).

Excellent point. Which goes with this from Big Bobo's bunnet. . .

If ange isnt backed. If our scouts and media fluff proves to be garbage then we all will be running the board out with pitchforks. No need for a cavalry of vespas

What we cant do is undermine and crucify men that havent had the chance to fight and show thier worth.

Precisely. I don't think we need the Green Brigade to tell us the score. ("Cavalry of Vespas" -- classic, Bobo!)

The percipient approach now would be to back the team with full fury and also let the board know they're on the hook, with appropriate vented rage. But continual protests and risible demonstrations need addressed too - more tact, wit and surgical critique, and less moonhowling.

Sandman nails it. Any response needs to be smart and surgical, and no moonhowling.

Late to the party on this, so just echoing some of my own sentiments as posted previously by others.

As the new season approaches, there is a couple of things to consider, the 10 wasn't achieved, why?, the board by inaction failed the club and by association failed the supporters. Should we just forget and forgive, in my opinion no. Should we as the supporters refuse to back the new manager and ceo, again my opinion is no. So how do we support the team my opinion is no to boycott, but we cannot allow the board to remain unchallenged not just in the short term but for the future of our club. I wish I could come up with a better solution, but unfortunately I'm not clever enough. What we must do is to make sure that our new ceo understands that we want a more forward thinking board with the ability to actually make the club better run. HH

Auldheid put it better wanna attack the board and call them out then get organised and do it through the AGM , bad publicity is what they hate and the AGM is a place they have to answer to

They can hold as many car park protests and call for as many reviews as they want it can be easily ignored just as before

Am I missing something here, is any protest now also a show of anger towards Ange and the team?
Someone has to make the decisions in the club, and yes many last season were done and taken to piss us off, which they rightly did.
But since then, further decisions have been made and we are all yet to see if they were good or bad and a huge amount of risk involved.
I don't trust the board whatsoever now but everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, even this current board.
Will the media spin this as a protest against the appointment of Ange and any players bought into the club? You bet they will.
So to all these demonstrators, come out and state what you're hoping to achieve, while the rest of us can tell you to fuck off, and let the people with the task of getting us back on track, concentrate on there jobs to do just that, instead of having to answer about the actions of childish arseholes who seem intent of trying to promote their own self importance.
Shower of tossers

In general as already stated I am against the boycott of our clubs income. At the same time I feel I must say that there is a few things that I am quite happy to say we should boycott, these include all Scottish media outlets, sky TV, BBC Scotland sports dept all sfa related merchandise and any political party that panders to the huns. It's an age-old question, but it bears repeating:

What is it that the board actually stands for?

Is it:

a) driven by pure profit and financial gain for majority shareholders?

b) a vanity project used to massage the ego of an elusive billionaire?

c) a small group who are emotionally invested in making Celtic the primary force in Scottish football?

I think we can safely say that it's not c, but I'm sure that success is good for the share price and annual dividends, so a successful team on the field would presumably add a bit of value.

I think a combination of both a & b are the most likely motivating boardroom factors and while that might not be best for the fans - imagine how any of us would be if we were in the position of being the majority shareholder?

I'm not saying that I condone what goes on in the boardroom - far from it, but I'm also aware that my self interests are more of a priority to me than concerning myself with what makes other folk happy.

Whether we, the Green Brigade, or any other fan likes it - it is what it is until someone else comes along and puts their money where their mouth is.

In a rather weak defence of the board, I'm fairly certain that we'll continue to have our current football team to support in 10-years time. I'm not altogether sure the same can be said for all of our rivals.

Any boycott of the merchandise is not going to make much of a dent into Dermot or Peter's personal bank accounts; however - it may have a significant impact upon the quality we can put on the park.

Theres also the possibility of a boycott harming our image in the eyes of sponsors and any future deal we make with kit makers like Adidas. Can't imagine they will be very happy as the new third kit just launched. And others in the pipeline.

The last thing we need right now is a divided Celtic.
We have a guy in place now who by the looks of things will give everything he has to get us back to where we belong and the only way IMO he can do that is with a complete united Celtic.
As I have said many times I think the Green Brigade are the best in world football at getting the fans
going and creating the greatest atmosphere you could ever wish to be involved in.
If they or anybody else want to take on D.D. then they will not only destroy this season they will lose and lose big time.
Some people said the prolonged manager choice was because of the banners and the protests, they could be right, they could also be wrong, but the one thing I do believe is Dermot Desmond was never at any time going to roll over so we could rub his belly.
Most of us demanded the removal of Neil Lennon,he told Lenny he was staying.. Lenny stayed.
He did not get the success he has from being Mr Nice Guy he is a ruthless Irish Billionaire who will do everything and anything he needs to do to win.
sevco would love this.. and all before a ball has been kicked,by all accounts everybody associated with Celtic Football Club are doing their best to get us back to where we belong so why would we want to destroy everything which is being done on behalf of every Celtic supporter worldwide.
I cant remember the last time I saw a banner win a game or protesters scoring a hat trick for us, but I can tell you the last time I saw Leigh Grifiths score a hat trick for us in a 5-0 victory against St Mirren in March 2020,,this is what I want to have as memories which can only be good for the club also,,I dont want to remember the last time I saw banners and protesters outside Celtic Park because that is definitely not good for the club,if the protesters and bannerees are not happy with the progress mid season then maybe they can voice their opinion, but for now Bhoys and Ghirls lets Unite behind everybody involved in this Celtic re-build especially the supporters of this great club..
