Close season so its time for a transfer thread......

Listening to a podcast today and the Celtic writer for The Athletic saying that Ange doesn't want Joe Hart or James McCarthy, if they are signed then they are being forced on him. Its no coincidence in the week since the leaked story to the record that DD is getting more involved with signings that we seem closest to signing Hart, McCarthy and Scales (who happens to be at a club DD has an interest in). There was another story that some Aussie press guys have been told by Ange's people that he is not happy and that the 'owner' interfered in everything including transfer targets.
Until I actually hear Ange telling us he's unhappy with the owner interfering with things I'll take it as the usual mischief making stuff we get on the web. If true, I would think Ange would be for the off given his reputation for not taking any nonsense.

TBF the Athletic you would not wipe your arse with. It seems everyman knows someone who knows someone who has a story and a platform to air it on. Has anyone noticed its gone quiet on Aribo and Moreloss, yet stories are just flying out of Celtic park when the building is empty and the training ground is not available unless it' s a presser.

When a group of Celtic fans took out a newspaper ad on Sunday in which they claimed that the Rangers side they will meet this weekend is an entirely different entity to the Rangers of old, it kicked up a bit of a fuss.

Celtic Ad

And now Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish has had his say on the above advertisement which argued that the term "Old Firm" has become a redundant one since Rangers' liquidation.

The ad included the paragraph: "This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs and the purpose of this statement is to place our position on record so that Celtic supporters can enjoy the occasion for what it is and without playing any part in what we see as the Rangers ‘club continuation’ fiction'.”

But Dalglish, who both played and managed at Celtic Park is insistent that this Rangers team is no different to previous ones.

Dalglish as Celtic manager Dalglish as Celtic manager

'Rangers is an iconic name of Scottish football, as is Celtic,' Dalglish told The Scotsman. 'If people want to do that in an advert, you would need to ask them why.

'It’s like asking me why a psychopath does what he does. I don’t know. I wouldn’t have an answer for what they’ve done. It’s Rangers. If you are a Celtic fan, it’s still Rangers isn’t it?'

Dalglish was quick to dismiss any suggestion that Rangers' struggles of late have diminished the significance of Celtic v Rangers clashes.

'It doesn’t matter that Rangers have been through the mire for three years," he said. "You are still playing against Rangers on Sunday – you can’t take that away.

'Would victory mean less to Celtic fans than before? I would say no, but I don’t know what’s in their minds. They have waited three years for an Old Firm game – why would it mean any less?

'By the way, it won’t be devalued either. In years to come, whether Celtic beat Rangers or Rangers beat Celtic, the record books will say it was the League Cup semi-final in 2015. It won’t say "by the way, Rangers struggled for three years and they were in the Championship". It will still say the score.'

H/t to The Scotsman

This boy was rated the best player in Ireland last season,I would give him a run out at left back as soon as his fitness is up to speed 22 years old he should not be here to go out on loan he should be here to play asap..he also plays at C/B and W/B..

HH
A wee story to maybe try to lighten the doom and gloom folks. Three of the many legends to have graced The Hoops were Irishmen, ( four if you want to count Lenny ) Bertie Peacock, Charles Patrick Tully, and Sean Fallon. So what you say ? Well, they all came to Paradise fairly late in their careers. ( can't use the word fairly in Sean's case, but I'll come to that ) Bertie peacock was the youngest at 20 years of age, Charles Patrick Tully was 23, and Sean Fallon was.......a couple of months short of his 28th birthday, Sean actually lied to Jimmy McGrory, he told the Celtic manager he was 22. There may be others from the emerald isle who could be classed as legends. Apologies to them if that's the case. HH

Guy from the athletics had quite a few things right so wouldn't knock him just yet Hart and McCarthy would be stop gaps just like loan deals we would be no further forward .

So far with no backroom staff coming in , 2 clipboards staying and transfers on the go slow except the shamrock rovers Messi i'd put my money on the guy from the athletic being nearer the money than we think ,,,,we'll soon find out when the window closes so far though were no better position than we were last year ,,,,has Lawwell blue print written all over it
