Celtic v the currant buns 29th August- match thread

I notice that our dirty play continues! So far in our 5 domestic games (4 league & 1 league cup) we have averaged 72% possession (over 2 and a half times more possession than our opponents) but have been penalised a total of 67 times.

This compares to a paltry 45 times where we have had free kicks awarded in our favour from teams chasing after the ball!

This is a highly unusual set of statistics in normal football.

It's a bizarre stat BB

Like a lot of comments above am not too downhearted after today mainly because there are signs of progress overall. Up until about a month ago I really wasn’t looking forward to today as I thought we would be in no state to compete.

To that end I have to hold my hands up and say I was wrong about Big Ange - I thought he was a cheap option, a panic move, controllable by a skinflint board. But he has shown he is none of those things. He has a philosophy, he has a plan - yes it didn’t go to plan today but for the first half we dominated the game. Just a shame we faded after the break and stopped doing the things that had been working to that point. However from the interview after it seems Ange will take lessons from it. He said he probably should not have started Eddy up front - could you imagine Lenny doing that??
Just a tad of frustration as they showed they are bang average and were there for the taking. But we will improve - you can see the foundations are being put in.

Simple mib tactic to relieve pressure when under the cosh and being dominating the play BB.
Still to early into the season to start calling it out, but certainly something to keep the eye upon still.

Exactly.

Plus I guess it is because we have been playing against those ultra skillful total-footballing clubs (sevco, Dundee, St Mirren and Jambos twice) who are famous for their cultured approach to playing the beautiful game!

Michael Stewart once again tells it as it is,strange how he is the only Neutral who can hear the scum..
I wonder if the sky guy who heard the 12 year old castigate more-or-less heard anything,,probably not..

Sevco fans do what they do best - marching through the city streets chanting the Famine Song and about being up to their knees and their brethern in the polis take no action (apart from sing along under their breaths).

At least Michael Stewart is brave enough to call them out about it. I can't wait for the laptop loyal in our media to call out these despicable and ILLEGAL actions (as if)!

Don't their fans have any songs glorifying their successes - do they all have to be about putting down others?

Wouldn't be the biggest fan of michael Stewart in general, but fair play on calling the scum out upon these horrible scummy bastards that they will always remain to be.

Michael Stewart is generally very good - unless Hearts are involved then he let's his biasedness get in the way (like John Hartson and most other pundits I suppose). But he does publicly stand up on issues like this though.

Calling them out will make no difference at all ..the bigotry will never be eradicated ,something we ll need to live with unfortunately .The only way we shut them up is to do the business on the park ,its gona come down to the derbys this season so hopefully we turn up in the next
game against them.

Not that I’ve calmed doon to just being sick
I still have complete faith in where we’re going with the manager
But today’s performance was worse than even anything we offered up at greyskull last season
It was like an obsession with possession for most of the game
Now we can’t fault effort in the team but they just never did the things that we’ve seen all season from them

Seen a few say we were the better team in the first half ,i ask myself what game were they watching but suppose we all see things differently.

I thought he was terrible. He's not the answer IMO
I sometimes wonder what other people be watching.
Eddie was terrible. Are you saying he was on a par with Eddie?
I thought he livened the game up when he came on and got in about them in the middle which is more than what Turnbull or McGregor done and what was badly needed. I hope he gets a run of games to prove all the doubters wrong.

I also think a lot of people are being very harsh on soro. He should have been on sooner.
I have to agree with you there m8
Was excellent last season
Not had a chance really this season
He got a bit of gip on here today
But to me he only did what the rest did and played possession passes
Anyhow there’s others in that team that are meant to be playing probing passes
Not his style and not his job
Thought we had a wee spell when he came in which was our only one
But he gets it cos he’s not rogic or Mcgregor or turnbull
