Not to any great level or time.Did you play SP?
An injury covered a multitude of sins and let me off lightly, but I knew my level and limitations.

Not to any great level or time.
Liar
Ouch!Do they have soup kitchens down Rose Street too?
Think the bubbly destroyed his capacity for rational thought years ago. Either that, or they spiked the soup.
Craig Burley was up in Dundee with Fabrizio Ravanelli for a wee while.Ouch!
Met him in the Universal off Sauchiehall St a few years back. Seemed nice enough then but we'd all had a few to be fair. Craig Burley was there too. Now there's a t!t
With United? Must have had something SP?I'm pathological, Boab, but unfortunately - that last one was true.
I had luck on my side for a good period there playing for a great juvey team.
Scouts were only concerned with height and clean sheets. I got found wanting with the big boys, but it was fun while it lasted.
Oh aye he does. Meeting him explained a lot though!Craig Burley was up in Dundee with Fabrizio Ravanelli for a wee while.
Tried to approach him one night, but he was an arrogant so -and-so and wasn't having it.
Still gets kudos for 97-98 though.
A big mouth and a never say diet attitude! With United? Must have had something SP?
I doubt Jim McLean kept anyone around who he didn't rate. Though he did strike me as quite the PresbyterianA big mouth and a never say diet attitude!
I think I got kept around for wee jum and mr indignity to shout at for my papish tendencies.
I actually spent more time across the road, loads more Tims there.
he struck somebody NiallI doubt Jim McLean kept anyone around who he didn't rate. Though he did strike me as quite the Presbyterian
Hahaha and then some.I doubt Jim McLean kept anyone around who he didn't rate. Though he did strike me as quite the Presbyterian
ah wiz talkin aboot david, no roly poly gordon! How shit must Stewart Kerr have been when he couldn't dislodge Marshall
Right the only keeper I can think of bar Billy Thomson and McAlpine at United around that time was Scott Thomson (I was only 9 in '85 mind you) and he wasn't til 87 ish I think, so if you are not him I'll let you keep your anonymity and sleep on itHahaha and then some.
He just didn't know goalkeeping, Niall.
He didn't know that it was more than just being tall and moderately athletic.
He lucked out with Hamish and it was indignity that brought up Billy Thompson.
My days were numbered when I turned up for training in Celtic shorts (umbro had just started putting the badge on the replica shorts) after the 85 Scottish Cup Final.
I'd let Gordon go in a heartbeat! He's a fine shot-stopper for sure but Packie was the ultimate shot-stopper with class and aggression thrown in just for the sheer fuckoffishness of it! If it wasn't for the back-pass he would have been Tommy's keeper too. Never understood his devotion to the chunky chicken Marshall.
Gordon has reflexes but after these long years feeling dread at disastrous kick-outs, enuf is more than enuf!
Boruc and especially Forester were unbelievable real keepers we acquired, incredible keepers!
As for Gordon, I'd rather give the Bhoy Hazard a chance before I have to shit meself so many times in 90mins? Tell him to start searching for somewhere else for his retirement
Six of wan and Frank Haffey of the other Michaelronnie simpson and john fallon, wiz marshall there with the holy goalie.....Hic....
Wee jum collected keepers for fun.Right the only keeper I can think of bar Billy Thomson and McAlpine at United around that time was Scott Thomson (I was only 9 in '85 mind you) and he wasn't til 87 ish I think, so if you are not him I'll let you keep your anonymity and sleep on it
If you got one of those 4 by 4 contracts you must have been well chuffed!
Fair do's. Your anonymity remains intact. for now....Wee jum collected keepers for fun.
For the record, Scott Thompson was by far the best keeper they had and an absolute gentleman.
Far too intelligent and sensible for a goalkeeper though.
At one point, he had Hamish, John Gardener, Scotty, Alan Main and Billy Thompson all on the books.
All decent enough boys, but 5 into 1 doesn't go. JG went to Aberdeen and ST was far too opinionated for jum. Alan Main stole my bird when I went down south, but he gets a pass on that because I'd got married by the time I found out.
He did box didn't he. Never lose it eh? To be fair he was warned!
