If Ashley is somehow connected to their new shirt sponsor maybe hes promised to keep his mouth shut and gave the huns and the Scottish media permission to run with their "Ashley's gone for good" stories. Ashley gets his compo and keeps getting cash for new shirt sales (which the zombies wouldnt buy if they knew he was involved)..sevco get some much needed cash from new shirt sales and everyone who is making money is happy.
