As a so-called modern society, there has to be a moral baseline for what socially conscious people determine as acceptable human behaviour.
Do we accept and tolerate racism, sexism, ageism or extremism?
Do we accept and tolerate sectarianism, hatred, violence or threat?
Can anyone actually justify the abuse of children as a shitty stick to beat folk over the head with?
A truly modern society would provide comfort and aid to the victims of child abuse. A truly modern society would vilify and condemn the perpetrators of child abuse - regardless of background or denomination.
It's not Celtic who should be singled out for the horrific abuse of young people, it is the whole of this supposed 'modern society' who are accountable for allowing paedophiles to go unchecked for decade after decade. Notably so in the corridors of government, the judiciary, the monarchy and the world of celebrity.
No right-minded person would even contemplate that this sickness does not exist universally. It is evident in every faith group, ethnic group, culturally diverse groups and social castes. Paedophiles do not discriminate. Their sickness infects everyone and any arsehole that tries to use the victims of abuse for the purposes of moral superiority needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves a serious question or three.
As a great bastion of Irish and Scottish fortitude and expressionism, Celtic franchised the name to various groups in a number of different communities.
Dundee Celtic Boys Club operates in isolation from Glasgow Celtic football club, I'm sure that this frequently occurs throughout other parts of the world, so can Celtic be held accountable if there were any problematic issues in Dundee?
Locality of the Glasgow Celtic Boys Club does not give it any greater affiliation to the Glasgow Celtic Football Club. It is a separate entity which operates in isolation. That does not minimise the effects of child abuse, but it does not make Celtic automatically complicit either.
It seems that there may have been historical abhorrent acts undertaken by a former employee of Celtic. The club have to make reparations in these instances and ensure that systems are in place to guarantee that this will never happen again. As for the infamous bastards that sullied the name, then no punishment was severe enough in my opinion. We have a moral responsibility and obligation to name, shame and condemn these animals.
As do they who reside in that big dirty glass house.......
Rocks incoming!!!!
