Junior Lawwell

I think daddy's protection has started to run out, and he has advised him to go. His inadequies are bringing too much focus on the board. The scrutiny and pressure is only going to get worse. No matter how this season ends, he is going to be rightly castigated as the biggest waste of space at Celtic, in a long time. Up there with the worst. A total imposter. And an utter failure.
Spot on pod a total imposter!!they used big ange as his leverage, saying he was the one that put ange up as a strong candidate!!..lying bastards..and because the big man was such a success we took our eyes off the ball..

4 transfer windows, 21 players (excluding those already at club on loan to buy) and 1 first pick, first team player, Alistair Johnston. You could argue Aaron Mooy but I'm sure that was Ange's signing and took no scouting involvement.
Shocking indictment on Junior, the scouting network (if there is one) and the club as a whole (particularly his father).
Strachan's boy, not the one thats coaches, his other one is the head of our European scouting.
Before celtic he had only ever worked in football once before, that was when his daddy gave him a job as a scout. Before that he worked in a Golf shop.
So the head of recruitment is Lawwell's son who isn't qualified for the job and his head of European scouting is Strachans son who isn't qualified for the Job.
No wonder out recruitment is shocking

No idea if Mark Lawwell has handed in his notice or not, but his critics should consider that he's recruiting players based on the board's strategy - top price £3m, top wages £16k and top age around not higher 24. So his job is to look for prospects and potential, looking for further signings like O'Riley and Hatate. Maybe that's the problem and why he might want to leave? Also if he goes and those who want him out are happy, what comes next? Another guy who has the advantage of not being called Lawwell, getting asked to do the exact same thing. It's the strategy that needs changing.

Mark Lawwell did play a part in bringing Ange to Celtic, when no-one else in European football was prepared to give him his chance. So there is some credit there. The second Strachan son though, the one who was the manager of the golf shop, that would take some explaining and from the outside looking in is not a particularly good look. Nor does it do Mark Lawwell any favours IMHO.

Well if he canny get through to his da about the shite signing policy, then no-one probably can.

Rumoured to be working his notice (from KDS).
Good if true, but how long does his notice period last and how does this affect summer recruitment?
Would anyone half decent want the job when they will need to work within the parameters set by Lawwell Sir and approved by the absent landlord?
Director of Football in charge of the footballing operation as a whole, top to bottom, recruitment, youth development, medical, sport science, analysis, is what's required but will never happen as long as we remain Desmond's trinket and run by Lawwell.
Please just leave and take your father with you - HH COYBIG

There are reports celtic are recruiting a " Head of soccer academy " with the date for accepting applications closing at the end of the month.
It will be interesting to see if Strachan has any more kids or maybe some other twat on the board has an unemployed kid looking for a job.
If not someone like that I would put money on celtic giving the job to a former player like Mark Burchill.
Does anyone on here think Celtic will actively look for the best qualified person they can afford

In my opinion, the very name Lawell, is now associated with toxicity and negativity, by many Celtic supporters. Unfortunately for him, Mark Lawell will never be seen as anything other, than his father's, and the board's lackey. They both need to go. And we need to start afresh with a different, more ambitious signing policy, implimented by new people. We also need BR to become much more vocal on the project signing policy. Not just 'wishy washy' statements on 'quality', then followed by support for the board. This board must be pushed towards some change of direction. His voice is the only one that they would fear.

The only time I can remember our policy changing was when Desmond felt insulated by the Ibrox board celebrating putting us out the Scottish Cup.
Hopefully it doesn't take them winning the league to change things

I'm not sure if you have more background info than most of us based on discussions with people within our club, or if you are speculating like the rest of us. But it is an interesting take on Lawwell Jr's situation that I hadn't really considered. Like many I had not considered that he was possibly fed up being viewed as the patsy for the board's severe lack of ambition. Like most people he maybe does have battles with his Dad behind the scenes.

I think we all totally understand and support the 'buy young, develop & sell for big profit' business model, as it is what makes a club like us grow. But you can't - and shouldn't - do this exclusively. You do need to supplement these development projects by reinvesting a decent chunk of your profits into handpicked players with more experience (in the 23-27 years age bracket) for specific roles, in order to progress and improve the side.

IMO, we should only be bringing in 2 or 3 youngsters to develop slong with our own youths, in any 1 season. Bringing in too many results in many failures which is a complete waste of money, which could have been invested in less - but more experienced/higher quality- players. If you have such a massive squad like we do, and most matches are high pressure/must win, then it becomes extremely difficult to develop more than 3 or 4 youngsters at a time, so the rest stagnate and probably regress (and so drop in value) due to lack of competitive gametime.

It is the board's strategy that is failing and maybe ML is taking too much flack for adhering to it. But the truth is that even if the two sons are strictly following the board's flawed policy, there are far too many "failures" in the players they are identifying as targets. So many of their new signings simply are not of a high enough standard to make it at a club of our level, never mind to push on to a higher standard so we can sell them for a big profit.

When you have so many failures then it is a case of unnecessarily pouring money down the drain. At which point the board needs to tweak their business model, as they did to great success when Ange was here.

So maybe ML & Seve Strachan are just following orders, but they were botg over-promoted into lofty positions they were not suitable for, due to nepotism. Sometimes in business people can surprise you and grow into these positions quickly and prove to be massive successes. But IMO that is not the case here for both Juniors.

A very sad day for Celtic. I am devastated and completely heart-broken. How can we possibly replace this magnificent servant to the club. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of future superstars sourced on the cheap and sold for massive profits. I hope in years to come they erect a gold-plated statue in his honour outside the Lawwell Arena to recognise his astonishingly brilliant ability to spot talent and propel us into the latter stages of the Champions League on the cheap. I sincerely hope that we wear black armbands on Sunday and the Celtic fans stage a minute's applause to acknowledge his phenomenal achievements in this role.

Fingers crossed that the ex-golf shop Strachan finally gets promoted to his rightful place as Mark's replacement as his track record is the only one in the entire world that could live up to the unbridled success of Lawwell Junior.

Thanks you Mark. You are a true legned and good luck in whatever new job Daddy's contacts have lined up for you. 😭👏👏👏
