Scotland 1- Croatia 3 : Reality makes an appearance again !
Croatia - World Cup finalists in last tournament , so the pundits , naturally , expected Scotland to beat them to progress to the last 16 !
Clarke f*cked up his team selection for the crucial first game when the weakest team in the group ( Scotland ) were playing the next weakest .
Substitutions near the end of first game gave him a clue as to who SHOULD be playing - ignored this !
Gave in to pressure when playing England and played the squad player with fewest games in the last year at club level , Gilmour , who had a good game ( but NOT MoTM in my opinion ).
Persevered with the worst forward in the tournament ( and in Scotland squad ) despite the ample evidence of two full ninety minutes of football .
Dykes status as Clarke favourite confirmed with another ninety minutes impressively impersonating Ollie Mcburnie as contender for the shitiest CF in football .
Needed a winger or two to get behind opposition - two left on bench for most of the tournament gathering splinters up their arses !
Needed goals in two games when we fell behind - and left Dykes on - a man who couldn't score in a brothel with a blank cheque and a prescription from his GP !
Dying minutes of tournament bows to pressure , again , and brings on a Sevco full-back instead of an
attacking winger . ( Covid connection - Clarke probably thought he was Billy Gilmour )
So after this impressive display Clarke is likely to be confirmed as Scotland manager for the foreseeable future . Much to look forward to !
