Transfer Rumours

Well you watched every game of their Europa run so you tell me?You seem to like talking about them so maybe you should join Ibrox noise 😉
I didn't watch all their European games, couldn't even watch all our games because of work. I work with plenty of huns. None of them had anything much to say about Bassey until about March.
I suppose a few good performance at the tale end of the season can make you the most valuable player I'm the league 🤣🤣

Where did the sudden upturn in form come from Tony?
Much better judgements came from BR and slippy who haven't rated him, and even after producing fuck all for 18 months in the shit hole, he suddenly has become some type of superstar, not buying into that whatsoever, or is the orange midget some type of magical mastermind of a manager know?
Plenty of players get released and go on to have great careers.I think he showed in the EL he has all the tools to improve as a player.Im on twitter and Facebook and i seen plenty of Dortmund abd Leipzig fans rave about him so looks like some people watch the same player as me.As for Van Bronkhurst being a mastermind of a manager ...hes much more qualified than any of us when it comes to football.

Nobody said he was most valuable player in the league..we're talking EL here .

We all know the £25m valuation is laughable trying to placate the hordes. But like you, I think Bassey is half decent. Like you, he impressed in their very lucky (but to me still impressive) run to the EL Final. He is far from the finished article and as we can all clearly see he has errors in his game, but so do many young defenders.

I am happy to admit when our opponents play well or have good players. I think it enhances our reputation if we talk up our domestic game to a realistic level (without the ridiculous over-hype of some hundits about players from a certain team).

We can't complain about outsiders downplaying Celtic's achievements if our own fans disrespect Scottish football.
During a transfer window players ratings tend to be judged upon there value placed upon them, so I'll stand by 20 plus M for Shirley is nothing but a donkey in term's of value for money imo.
To set the record straight I couldn't care less about the scum raising funds to reinvest in players as decent competition within Scottish football still remains welcome and even more enjoyable for the success we gain for achieving that success also, and hoping other teams have invested wisely to bring the whole of Scottish football to a higher level than it has been for many a long year.
Good all round players will improve the standard of Scottish football and that includes the scum also, again no bother with that as it should increase our own determination to stay top also, thing I believe we should do with far more quality in depth than anyone else, but in football nothing can be taken for granted either, as the beauty of the game still remains that anything can happen still.
Noticed overall during this transfer window to date that fees being paid out so far seem much lower than in many gone beforehand imo.
Thinking this knock on effect of only allowing 8 loan out deals and reducing is having a potential huge knock on effect for many clubs and still leaving a lot of players in limbo still.
Even ourselves need to use the loan system to offload deadwood more so than for player development still, and would be the case for many a big club now.
The knock on effect is many a club are facing up to having to take a big hit on players and still leaves it open more so for the smaller clubs to still pick up potential bargains for themselves still imo.
Even ourselves with potentially Jules and ajeti could be looking for loan deals away, unless we are still prepared to take the hit and stand to get very little in return, but yet both could possibly still do a decent job for another team, even if they might not fit into Ange's plans as such.
Football is still a huge business regardless, and for ourselves player development should be more important than getting wage stealers off the books, but wouldn't be the way business men would look upon things as such.
Still think it's a real buyers market for clubs this window and even more so in a world Cup season also.
Will remain interesting to see how it all pans out in the end before the window closes, but we still remain in very good shape regardless of the outcome and will be totally ready for the start of the season ahead and that's all I'm really concerned about at present.

Any player is capable of improving when given an opportunity Tony, nothing new in that and we have only got to look at Ralston for that.
Yet for 18 months has only been used as a back up player, including under the orange midget also.
In this techno world that includes football especially, I would be very interested to know just how much extra ground he was able to cover in the past few months and as a total guess I would say its far higher than anything shown in the 18 months previously.
To myself to many red flags surrounding Shirley and any team prepared to outlay a huge sum, I would have thought that they would want to see some form of consistency than just a handful of EL matches, and still hasn't produced that of any great length either imo, so still a very risky buy for any team and even more so at the nonsense figures been floated about still imo.

He was a standout in that European run and stood out against us also.As i said i say it how i see it.Hes young and has a lot to learn but he looks a confident player to me.Maybe its the steroids 💉
I'm not bigoted like that mob and can appreciate that ( hun player he may be) he has potential to be a very decent player though I'd still put taylor above him.
That's not cos Taylor's our player but cos Taylor's had a decent season and then kicked on to have a great season.
Bassey may as you say have stood out in Europe but I'm not convinced he did against us.
You cant be talking of the 2-1 game at ibrokes nor the 3 nil thumping at CP so are you meaning the draw or semi or the first derby ? I'm not even sure he played in the 5 games .
I'll give you hes got a raw potential that could be honed into something better.
Still seems a little clumsy at times ( from what I've seen) in the challenge and gives away silly and dangerous free kicks at times but the proofs always been the same , will he really kick on this season or will they have no option but to punt him for as much as they can, my guess is the latter.

He done well against better teams than Celtic mate.Taylor was brought into the argument by another poster .Some find it hard to speak the truth on here.Too many sheep on here for my liking .

I actually value good debate on topics that concern us and even the scum when it inflicts as much pain on the scummy bastards as possible.
I could totally understand teams showing a interest in Shirley especially if they had intentions of opting for the 3CB formation that is becoming popular for many a team nowadays.
I still wouldn't rate him to highly as a specialist in either as a CB or LB in a back 4 formation, my opinion only.
Don't see how comparisons are made when players can be used so differently in such a tactical based game these days.
Would Shirley offer us anything better than scales could in a similar type of role?
Still say he couldn't myself but until we actually see it and if we ever do, then a comparison can't be really made still.
Yet where it will give us a very good idea is upon the value of scales if Shirley is sold and Ange doesn't rate scales in his future plans still.

Dont think yiu can name they two players in the same breathe John.I didnt see much of Scales to be fair but clearly not good enough for Celtic at the moment .This was never about comparing Bassey to our players but if i had to take a player from them id take him.

Scales had a very big ask upon joining us straight after just finishing a season with shamrock rovers and jumping straight into a much higher level with ourselves and no settling in period as such.
Used as a LB but still say its not his best position imo, and even more so with how Ange likes to use his full backs.
Still unsure if he has a potential future with us and his season ahead with the sheep should give us a far better indication, so wouldn't rule him out just yet, but could be a big task especially as Ange loaned him out a bit to quickly imo, especially without a recognised left sided CB in place either, especially with doubts surrounding Welsh still in the role.
Could understand you thinking Shirley could give us a better option in the position, but would still rather stick with what we currently have as wouldn't class Shirley as a much better option still for us imo, even if we could still need someone to fill the position still
