We all know the £25m valuation is laughable trying to placate the hordes. But like you, I think Bassey is half decent. Like you, he impressed in their very lucky (but to me still impressive) run to the EL Final. He is far from the finished article and as we can all clearly see he has errors in his game, but so do many young defenders.
I am happy to admit when our opponents play well or have good players. I think it enhances our reputation if we talk up our domestic game to a realistic level (without the ridiculous over-hype of some hundits about players from a certain team).
We can't complain about outsiders downplaying Celtic's achievements if our own fans disrespect Scottish football.
During a transfer window players ratings tend to be judged upon there value placed upon them, so I'll stand by 20 plus M for Shirley is nothing but a donkey in term's of value for money imo.
To set the record straight I couldn't care less about the scum raising funds to reinvest in players as decent competition within Scottish football still remains welcome and even more enjoyable for the success we gain for achieving that success also, and hoping other teams have invested wisely to bring the whole of Scottish football to a higher level than it has been for many a long year.
Good all round players will improve the standard of Scottish football and that includes the scum also, again no bother with that as it should increase our own determination to stay top also, thing I believe we should do with far more quality in depth than anyone else, but in football nothing can be taken for granted either, as the beauty of the game still remains that anything can happen still.
Noticed overall during this transfer window to date that fees being paid out so far seem much lower than in many gone beforehand imo.
Thinking this knock on effect of only allowing 8 loan out deals and reducing is having a potential huge knock on effect for many clubs and still leaving a lot of players in limbo still.
Even ourselves need to use the loan system to offload deadwood more so than for player development still, and would be the case for many a big club now.
The knock on effect is many a club are facing up to having to take a big hit on players and still leaves it open more so for the smaller clubs to still pick up potential bargains for themselves still imo.
Even ourselves with potentially Jules and ajeti could be looking for loan deals away, unless we are still prepared to take the hit and stand to get very little in return, but yet both could possibly still do a decent job for another team, even if they might not fit into Ange's plans as such.
Football is still a huge business regardless, and for ourselves player development should be more important than getting wage stealers off the books, but wouldn't be the way business men would look upon things as such.
Still think it's a real buyers market for clubs this window and even more so in a world Cup season also.
Will remain interesting to see how it all pans out in the end before the window closes, but we still remain in very good shape regardless of the outcome and will be totally ready for the start of the season ahead and that's all I'm really concerned about at present.
