Why do you think BR came back??

BR left Celtic for a few reason. One of them being a complete break down in his relationship with the board...a break down made worse by PL constantly getting involved with transfers.
Fast forward a few seasons and there seemed to be a complete shift in how our board operated. PL was gone, the manager had complete control. He says who and what he needed and the board made it happen....Kyogo, Hatate, Jota, Maeda, CCV and Johnstone to name a few.
It was one of the reasons I didn't mind the return of BR. For him to agree to come back must have meant he was made guarantees, surely.
So how come it doesn't feel that way?
He interviews like a man who, just a few seasons ago, after 2 and a bit seasons, was getting ready to walk away...not like a manager that has just walked in the door and excited about the future.
One minute we need to sign quality, then the next we aren't a club that spend big...both statements seem like digs at the board he was making a few seasons ago before walking away.
Have the board gone back on promises they made him??? Or was there no assurances from the board in the 1st place??
This isn't a thread to debate whether we think he should have come back...I think we have all made our feeling clear on that. This is more asking the question as to why he came back in the 1st place.

I think he has too much arrogance if you will, and wanted to come back and not have his first departure weighing on himself anymore tbh.As I put in another thread, and am dead serious, I wanted Deila back before Rodgers....but anyway.

Will support him because he is our manager but something about the dude has always been kind of offputting to me. He needs to figure out his squad quick or he will be fired;that's just the reality of it.

He's not the manager of Ross County, he is the manager of one of the biggest supported clubs in the world and we expect results.

I think he came back because the manner in which he left was eating away at him....And coming back may exorcise that demon. One things for sure, he has an almighty task in front of him, and if it dont work........That demon will be bigger.......
I think there may be some truth in what you say, lennono, but if I'm bein' honest I'm scratching my head as to why he came back.

It would seem he has agreed to come back to work with players " provided" : I'm really struggling with the notion of any top manager working under such a scenario.

In truth, I find it mystifying.

Good post young Lubo 😀😀👏👏. The one point I'd make is why come back when he knows Liewell is in.? Now these two have history they clash big time. So in reality BR is a much bigger fool than we thought

I think that's a part of it lennono , definately though not the whole of it.
He will know that replicating what he did here before is nigh on impossible, though we are a club that specialises in the impossible.
It's one of those where everyone will have different ideas as to the why , but being ostracised from Celtic can't sit well with anyone especially one as spectacularly successful as he was.
I'd not be surprised if he was given certain assurances that perhaps haven't come to fruition yet.
Still very early days of course but if its PL interference then I'd expect Rodgers this time to call it out ( perhaps he already is) but properly not cryptically.
One thing I would say was it was a brave decision for him to make.

Thats true DannyBhoy. But I look at it like this. Embrace the challenge take it on and come out winners.🏆
That's the spirit Ally f*k this rancid mob , champions league? We'll find out tonight that we'll be a pot 4 side as Copenhagen who are leading will bump us down as will PSV hopefully we will get them .

Edit: with PSV/sevco winners going into pot 3 there's only one place in it left which we occupy and we'd require Copenhagen, young boys and Braga to not make it through to remain in pot 3

I think he came back for money and because nobody else wanted him and this was his last chance to try to stay relevant. A feather for DD. He has been fired from 2 of his last 3 jobs. So he is defo yesterdays man. I hope he wins with this Celtic team, only because I dont want Celtic to lose, but I am not sure he will survive after this, or it is China or the Arabs

While I see and respect the logic in your argument I think it credits Rodgers with character traits like humility, integrity and conscience which apparently have yet to manifest in his managerial career.

I'm sure Brendan is asking himself that question now
He's known what he was in for from as early as last April.
Spurs may well have approached Celtic about Ange after Conte was fired in March. The availability of Rodgers since April should have been a catalyst to them. Looking back it appears obvious that nobody within the Celtic squad or operations staff were shocked at the 'sudden' departure of Ange.

Good shout

MONEY…..plain and simple, he knew the didn’t have the fans backing, he also knew we have a meddling CEO, that gets paid more than almost EVERY CEO in the EPL that’s awash with money, was found out as pish in engerland, championship was his only option, probably on 1/3 of what we are paying him, everybody can see he’s a one trick pony.

Absolutely massive game for him this weekend, he’d better have a good plan to not lose, or hopefully win, when all the card are stacked against him…….

injuries
Nae fans in the stadium
Players not understanding his system/not playing to our players strengths
Top hun referee, Don Robertson in charge, has loads of previous for contentious decisions involving the Huns
Hun in charge of VAR

I'm sure once everything settles down after this weekend we'll see where we are with players and CL.
