I can't believe this topic is still being debated as we all have very different opinions and no one is going to change anyone else's mind. Politics and religion are the topics we are all told to stay away from if we want to retain our friendships and it doesn't seem to be any different here on the Noise.
We should remember, however, that we all love Celtic and that the lines of politics and religion are blurred as we all come from different backgrounds and no one's argument is the right one. Hail Hail

I agree. The last blog i was on had a bhoy on it that i highly regard as a friend.
Brought up and is protestant yet chose to support Celtic of his own volition and totally sttod shoulder to shoulder with us smyting the vermin that came on. He’s still fighting the good fight.
His love for Celtic shines out him and he is no less a Celtic fan than anyone i know.
Big shout out to my bhoy Craig Gordon from the Celtic blog.
Lets face it we all know the difference between a protestant and a hun.
For me its like night n day.
That of course is only one example. There are many many more from all faiths and none.
I have huge respect for people that chose our club. I was born into it and got it straight away.

I’m frankly not sure what you or Maria in her ‘astute’ comment below are driving at !
I would make a few points
First of all I think CFC has never and will never have anything to do with that despicable organisation and would never want any association of any kind with it
Second if folks on here want to discuss and debate the merits and demerits of it let them fill their boots . I hope they don’t . I for one will not be participating
Third I thought James Forrest and co had set this site up as a civilised forum for debating proper Celtic related topical matters
I think to date it by and large has Managed to remain that way .
If the forum deteriorates to the point where rabid pro IRA rubbish (which incidentally makes me almost weep listening to the puerile behaviour of silly wee boys at away games ) is accepted as normal acceptable behaviour then this blog will have regressed to the level of the depraved opposition and will quickly and sadly be consigned to the dustbin

it's "general chat" V,some fans use it to vent,some use it for non football matters, culture,politics,music, etc,but i agree when celtic fans start abusing each other,i normally don't take part as i feel it demeans us

Simple really i believe you are stunting the debate.
Its your opinion of course but others are different as is mine.
We don’t agree on this issue as we have spoke of recently but i do believe you are entitled to your opinion on it as i am mine so thats good, progress if you like that we can disagree yet both be Celtic fans.
I think larry was very astute as it seems there are those who deem the alternative opinion to yours should stop but hey we live in the fallacy of a democratic country which means difference of opinions are allowed.
Unless of course you think different on that?

Let’s Cut to the chase .. are you saying you want to make and allow anyone else who wants to ..to make pro IRA statements and If that’s what this is about just be candid and say it . That way we know what we are dealing with .

Im not saying you are. Opinions can be strong as we feel strongly about them.
I accept having discussed this with you before that this is just your opinion and that there is no underlying agenda with you.
However this site not being the first rodeo on blogs and the like there have been opinions akin to yours who have had an agenda to shut those with different opinions up.
We all have an opinion right?
I know i can be very vocal about mine and with more than an element of gusto.

I have no problem with IRA songs nor those that sing them for i don’t see them as anything other than life events being remembered through song never to be forgotton.
Nor do i think they are about hatred or inciting trouble.
They tell stories of other peoples struggles and whether you like it or not verum i am not alone in my regards to them.
Have you ever sung a rebel tune?
Did you listen to the lyrics in their entirety?
You are entitled to feel however you feel in regards to them and i know you too are not alone.
I propose to accept you and your opinion on it and hopefully you can accept me n mine too.

Let me just say this !
A major reason Rangers get away with their racist behaviour and their stadium not being shut down and them not being widely condemned and criminalised is because the media RIGHTLY can say that we are the same and can points to the ( in my opinion ) seriously misguided in our support who tragically drag us down to their deplorable level
