Kilmarnock v Celtic match thread

I see what your saying Tony but we had Scotlands most skilful players out there today and they couldn't even get a shot on target from open play. Also its not a surprise - it happens regularly at tight away grounds. A team of skilful short arses always struggle against eleven big neds on a narrow pitch. That's why we have to change tactics now and again and just go long and send in cross after cross. That's why we need someone like Cosgrove. I think it could make a difference 😬

Was with you up until Cosgrove Andy. We do need a big physical Centre Forward but Cosgove ain't the answer.

That hun couldna give that penalty quick enough, before he even thought about fouling him. No fuckin way we would get a pen for that.
110% Richybhoy a penalty,I would have been looking for 2 penalties it was so bad,Julien left him with no option but to give the penalty, the guy was watching every move from 5 yards away..
Is there no Bobo,s about,a centre back who tells himself I am here to stop people going by me not to try to convince people I am a footballer..
This is all about recruitments we did not make, our 2 centre backs are like Ryan air pilots during lockdown, they only have 2 pilots to fly their planes and they know it so the pilots are a wee bit more relaxed or confident because they dont have anybody else to do their job, just like Julien and A.C. Milan Ajer,if there had been a couple of recruits maybe things would have been slightly different
This is the same shit we went through the last recruitment window and the time before and the time before that,,when does it stop ?? we are getting to the point of being an embarrassment when it comes to bringing in new faces.
After today,s performance I have no doubt if there is an offer made for Eddy he will be gone,he was anything but comfortable playing on that plastic shit again,I would not blame Eddy for walking away how can he be expected to do all the work on his own, what the hell happened to the 2 strikers up front that was a winning formula we had now we are back to one up top..,if Lawwell does not get his act together and Lennon does not grow a pair and stand up to Lawwell then 10 iar will be over sooner than we would have thought..
Maybe he is more interested in his Hotel than he is in people who pay his £280000 per month wage.
A very sad day for every Celtic supporter, lets hope it is the last..

HH.

Thing is we never lost in the lottery that is Rugby (axminster) Park.
Blame the surface ...how longs it been there why have we got a full size and a three quarter size carpet in Lennoxtown Taylor played there ajer played a season there surface at killie Hamilton Livvy a shitty excuse IMO

It is the same every season - our recruitment is always done very very late in the transfer window. Often AFTER we've already fucked up CL qualification.

You are right. Last year we saw Broony start to struggle following a long run of 2 matches per week - his workrate is phenomenal for a man 10 years his junior - so we definitely need a backup plan for him this season. I guess it will be Ntcham partnering CalMac, assuming he stays here, or Soro?
The debate seems to be Ntcham or Christie. Really it should be do we need to play Brown? We probably still do unless Soro is ready and can cover full backs and two centre halves who rarely win their battles. We're asking too much of Brown.
Let's be honest we play a formation with a lone striker and Eddy needs support. Neither Christie or Ntcham are a 10. The only one at the club is never fit enough to play and thats Rogic.
If we spread centre midfield and pull the wide men in a bit tighter to support Eddy we could play 4-3-3 and negate the need for a No 10. If we do that we don't play a pivot midfielder and Brwon's role is redundant. Allowing Calmac, Christie and Ntcham to play. The problem then is no-one covers the defence. And today showed we can't trust them to do their jobs without help. So we're back to a 3-5-2 and not enough personnel to cover that yet. Headache!

It was just as well we scored first of Kilmarnock had scored first we would possibly have lost today.

We never looked like scoring again after Christie's opener. They parked the bus, which they're entitled to do, and hit us on the break when they could. We had no idea how to combat it, no plan B!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. That was our tactics in a nutshell today! Spent an entire 90 mins trying to carve a team open by trying to pass our way through them and even though it clearly wasn't having the desired effect we just kept on doing it anyway.

Tactical naivety!
