Scotland game

Think that could be said for most of the team John ,not one of them can hold their head high and say they were at their best .If the new guys no nonsense then he wont be slow in getting rid ..over to Griff now .
Very much so TS.
No idea on how griff is mentally for the task in hand, but would getting a new contract remain his only motivation at present?
I wouldn't say any club apart from us, would be prepared to offer griff anyway near what we would pay him, still wouldn't be confident in getting a return from him, yet we are hardly in a position of quality strickers, so a huge decision awaits on the outcome of the griff situation

Thought last season for him couldn't be any bigger for him, and led to believe he couldn't get himself up for it.
Of course Scotland could have done with him, but what can you do with a player who seems that he can't get himself motivated any longer?
Griff said today he WAS fit, just Lennon and the coaching staff took a dislike to him, he’s got a point to prove next season, I’d bet he’ll come flying out the traps like a dug 🐕 chasing a rabbit 🐇

I'm not so sure his wee cameos last season back-up hos boasts about being fit - so often he was blowing out of his arse after 10 minutes! I would love it if he scored 30+ goals for us next sesson, but in no way can that be interpretted as him "answering his critics" but rather reinforcing why they were so pissed off at his lack of professionalism in the season past.

Maybe BB, but also JK wouldn't play him either and JK still in a position of power to a certain degree.
Still think if JK wasn't involved, maybe griff could return to form, and given a choice I'd rather Griff at the club than JK

I would rather have Griff too - as long as he applid himself. But for someone reportedly earning £18,200 per week basic salary (or just slightly under £1m a year), it surely isn't too much to expect a more professional attitude than he showed during what should have been a massively historic season for us?

And if he is publicly slagging last season's management team then what the hell does he think the consequences will be if 2 of the 3 of them appear to still be there?

All comes down to character for me BB.
At a guess I would say griff is a very flawed character, which in turn makes him very hard to trust.
Given a choice, i would edge for the get rid option

Yes, he is very flawed - like many of us. I do think he was mismanaged so we haven't seen the best of him for a long time and he clearly lacks the willpower and discipline to take responsibility for his own actions.

However, seeing as he will either stay or be released irrespective as to what I think I am not going to worry too much about this decision. But if he is retained then he had better get his finger out and put in the effort for the rest of his Celtic career.

I would say it was a disappointing performance but it was a case of same old shit, different day. Another Scotland special where the team and manager were found wanting and we lost to a country that has been in existence for about three decades (though, granted, that is two decades longer than sevco!), has a population smaller than Scotland's and has already been to a world cup final.

Watching last night's game, it looked like all our players were carthorses and the Croats were racehorses since out players frequently couldn't get near them for long spells. Was Modric the oldest player on the pitch? He lasted 90 minutes and the guys 10 years younger couldn't counteract him.

Clearly, as someone else said above, the blazers at Hampden couldn't give a toss because they are only interested in how deep they can get their noses in the trough with no real desire to set up proper systems and coaching to produce good players with a never-say-die attitude on a consistent basis.

The unknown question BB, can he be bothered any longer?
Dont think so myself

That's a wee bit unfair johnno it was an achievement for us to qualify even through the backdoor serbia were favourites, the team gave us the belief that we could qualify after the Wembley performance before that most had given up the ghost. Croatia might have never beaten us before that game but they are the world cup runners up with balloon door winner modric ( younger than Ronaldo) and it was the first time we saw the real Croatia strips ( that's really what happened psychological meltdown at the sight of they diamonds 😆) population only means so much as ireland Wales Denmark Sweden and many more have shown. Clarke was too defensive v the Czechs meaning we had to be offensive against the English then Croatia. Thats surprising given wed beaten the Czechs twice that was the game to go for it. The players I can't really fault all played well 1 crazy goalie moment aside which all sides suffer from at some time but Marshall was still largely impressive. Clarke says well learn from this and I hope he stays but he must learn the importance of winning that first game for a nation like us. The England draw wouldbe seen us qualified if wed been more offensive. For me just being there was brilliant, the Wembley draw Ferdinand eating humble pie and calmac goal and hopefully Clarke can take us into the next one tbh I wasnt sure I'd ever see us qualified again. HH
