Transfer Rumours

I doubt juranovic will move this Yea..think he will stay for CL....next year there's a really good chance he will move but ultimately if he does move then ...meh.....we find the next juranovic......The Benfica business model has gotten them high on a billion euro in transfer fees over the last 5 or 6 years ....this is the type of club our custodians want us to be

Must admit that reading of the JJ rumour this morning took me aback.
I know that Joseph is often in the know but not always correct.
I'd like to think JJ will stay for a crack at the champions league, the best platform for any player.
If he goes he goes and we will move on as no-one is bigger than Celtic.
It's no surprise that our players are sought after and we'll hear more similar reports on others at some stage.
JJ would be daft to move on at this time imo when we're about to mix it with the cream of Europe.

I think this is something that most of our fans haven't quite got to grips with yet. They insist on following this model or that model but this almost always consists of developing younger players and selling on after 2 or 3 years for a profit. When we are trying to buy in foreigners I am convinced that many of them see themselves following in the footsteps of VVD, Wanyama, Ki, Petrov, etc, where they can win a move to the riches of the EPL and boost their salary by a factor of 5 or 10. I also doubt that our negotiators play this route down as it is an extra important point to persuade players to join us.

This has been our business model for many years now but whenever a player says OK, I'm developed here and want to move on they are chastised by the fans. I appreciate it is very frustrating that just when a player is going to become a real star for us that he then asks to move, but that is the reality of modern-day football that is ridiculously skewed towards a few ultra-rich leagues because of tv-funding.

I'm not saying we have to like the situation, but maybe show a wee bit more understanding of the situation and maybe have less vitriol towards players who are looking to move on. As long as they continue to try hard and do not down tools (see I thought Ajer kept fighting but was still slagged off whereas Eduoard was a disgrace and deserved all the flack that went his way).

Have to agree with all of that .
There are clubs out there with far more financial security than us like benfica, Dortmund, Ajax list is endless really but they do the same thing as us and when their players they move on, more often than not we see them get a great send off whereas we quite often send them off with a rocket up the arse.
Scottish football is on the up right now but we cannot kid ourselves and be enraged when a player wants to move on to ' better things' even if we dont see it as better , often we see it as a backward step for the player, but like you said, if they give their all til the very last , that's fine by me.

He'll be 27 in August so if he was givrn the chance of one last big payday then he might be tempted. He probably thought Celtic was that last big offer.

Fingers crossed it is clickbait crap.
Oh hes 27 well thats slightly different then now it depends on the size of the club/wages hes just won 2 in a row in 2 countries and will play champs league and obviosly win more with us does he want to keep winning shit??? Or will money talk fuckin hope not🤞

But but but - haven't you heard the Scottish media? He is the new Roberto Carlos/Paolo Maldini hybrid who single-handedly won the Europa League for sevco (why not - they have claimed over a 100 other trophies they never won). Surely the Ballon d'Or award is a formality for him this season?
Pure embarressed at the state of the papers tryin to punt theyre players we've had talk like the fat columbians a 30m player🤭 we've also had barasic 20m...kent at 25m...and they stupid fans wonder why they dont get any bids maybe they ought to stop comparing themselves to the premium club in the ccountry and start being realistic theyd be lucky to get 20m for the 3 ive mentioned above....fannies

That makes sense, reading that.
Should JJ move to the EPL or elsewhere he may not be a regular starter given the size of most EPL squads.
To stay, win trophies, and play in the champions league ( the ambition of practically all players) must surely be his better option .
Unless hes looking for a huge increase in wages, but that could cost him the opportunity for playing in the champions league.
Hes had a great season but it would help his cause to repeat that for a second season and show well in the cl

I think Josip was a great acquisition last season and performed well.
I also believe he still has work to do and can certainly improve.
His distribution and crossing at times could have been alot better imo.
I like his attitude and workmate and he has no shortage of skill so definitely is an asset popular in the dressing room and with the fans.
Hes defo a keep for me...But with a five year contract Celtic are in full control so not overly concerned.

We’re a selling club, quicker everyone gets their head around that the better, Celtic are a pit stop/stepping stone to the riches in the EPL, we have a track record of punting players on, that’s why they come here, no kid in Japan, Croatia, USA,France, dreams of being a Celtic player, they aw want to play in the EPL, he’s still has 4 years left on his deal, but every player has his price, putting unrealistic prices on player (like the Huns do) just breeds resentment and an unwillingness for future players to sign for us,
If a decent bid comes in we should accept it, one of the posts above quote £15 million which seems about right, we have Tony the Tiger ready to make that position his ain 👍
