Is the 2018/19 Season a failure in your eye?

Thought slippy was havin a laugh with his double standards in his after game interview.

He said you have to pay respect to Celtic they came as champions.

So having defud cheat....

Having wife beater intentionally elbow SB

And not providing a guard of honour is RESPECTFUL?

How this cunt kept a straight face i’ll never know.

I actually thought they had won the league with them lapping the shithole with their kids in daddy t shirts etc having photo ops with the fans.

Fkn embarrassed for them ????

Success or failure depends on which way you view each, failure in Europe for instance to be a success you need a big flow of cash to put a competitive team now when you look at the money being spent and the wages being paid, enough per month that could finance some teams in the lower leagues for most of the season.yes Celtic could invest heavily but would empty the coffers to do so,yes a run Europe would be great but your are up against investors who are looking for prestige and have the money to back it,Success well two trebles and a third within reach and 8 league championship in a row speaks for itself and we have money to invest on new players, the problem is getting the player without bankrupting the club personally I think we have been successful within our limitations.failure sorry if you view what has been achieved as failure you need to look at other teams not only in Scotland but in England and a few other country's as well clubs up for sale bankrupt players not been paid grounds being sold off to pay depts that's failure

Wow, I didn't think I was going to get such a response from my first post! I can understand why people think I'm crazy. We have been blessed with such amazing success and it's not lost on me. I've never celebrated as much when Rogic and Griff jumped into the crowd at Hampden. And the cup final I'll be at the Melbourne supporters branch hopefully celebrating what will hopefully be a historic occasion. However, I'm not 16 anymore (wish I was) and have been around long enough to see cycles in football, what the post was really about is how do we keep our cycle going. How do we keep being the dominant force in Scotland. Money does give you a sporting advantage at all levels. So how do we keep this advantage? I know that Celtic can't have our cake and eat it (it is great when it happens) but we have to sacrifice something to be better prepared to keep funding our dominance (European achievement).
For those that say, 'but the Europa is more or level, we'll only get humped by Barca etc''. I give you the line, ''Most of the football greats have passed through Parkheads gates''. This shouldn't just apply to our players but the opposition too. Hope is what keeps football alive, I hoped for 9 long years in the 90's but it kept me going. I hope we can win a European cup, and in my view so should our board.
Yes, we don't have the riches but that's sport, I don't want to get into debt and go the Sevco route, but Celtic is still a rich club and there is only a certain number of players that can go around. Invest in good management, forward thinking coaches and bed in our youth in cups all rewarded by success on the field rather than success on the balance sheet (at set budgets).
Reach for the stars!

My hat is off to you. Most people's first posts are a self-introduction and why they're here. You went ahead and poked the hornet's nest right off the bat. That shows courage. Good for you, mate!

However, I'm not 16 anymore (wish I was) . . . .

Don't we all wish that . . . :)

Good questions, all worthy of discussion. Speaking personally, at this point and earlier in the season, they are distractions. One we get over the line and have the cups in the trophy room, we can talk about that. That's my opinion, and as the auto ads say, your mileage may vary.

If Sevco has a redeeming value -- and I know it's a stretch -- it's that they are Exhibit A in the cautionary tale of how NOT to run a club. That said, you are right -- Celtic is doing well financially and they have the ability now to go out and sign some good players. I think this is what we have to look forward to once the season ends.

Anyway, welcome to Celtic Noise -- and incidentally, if you have more lads like Rogic down there, send them our way :)

We all share the vision of winning big in Europe - but we also have to be realistic . We are in a League/country which is a nonentity as far as Uefa are concerned ( and Big sponsors etc.. ) so we have to cut our cloth to suit our circumstances.
You suggest prioritising Europe over domestic Cup Competitions - playing under 21's in these .

I don't think you will find one person on here who would say that winning the Treble was a 'failure ; nor would those same fans say that winning a Double Treble was pointless ; now we are on the cusp of a Treble Treble - what are the odds that quite a few on here see this as a UNIQUE achievement !
Yet you would have us basically concede the Cups because they increase our games in a season - and reduce our European prospects ?

You say we do not prepare properly for the qualifiers for the CL ! Our season ends in mid-May , the qualifiers begin 9-10th July( for us ) , so what would you have us do differently ?
After a hard season like this one where the Championship was won only this month our players will need break , so they will return in mid-June perhaps . What else can we do ?

Would you have us play under 21's in the League to give the senior players a rest , then risk losing the League and our route into the CL qualifiers ?
Would you have us withdraw our best players from internationals ( not allowed ) to spare them games this June ( when they are supposed to be resting for the CL qualifiers ) ?

We all on here share your ambitions for Celtic but some of us are proud of the achievements over the last three years and would not lightly trade them for a faint hope of , maybe, doing slightly better in Europe .

All cool pal but what is Melbourne spending? Y’all sound for a tap? ????

Millsy, some great questions and points in there, and I don't have all the answers. But it's like an after action review what can we do, what can we change to still remain the dominant force. It's an extremely radical change that I'm suggesting, I know this. I'm sure every Celtic fan would give up the cups for a League win every season. I know I don't go around to Sevco fans and lord up how many Scottish Cups with won, but I do the league and big ears as they are the ones that count.

I'm not for one minute suggesting that we play U21's in our league games they are the number 1 priority. I'm suggesting that our main players are rested for cup games only. When it comes to the closed season, why even have one. There is around 80-90 playing staff, which other industry has them all leaving at the same time (maybe trades), but get them staggered time off during the year. A Saturday cup game could mean that a player can have 10 days holiday for example - planning is needed for this. Our first team squad should be at peak fitness for the 8 qualifiers, with no excuses like, ' we'll be better in a weeks time, with the game under our belt''.

The season hasn't been a failure but it has thrown up a lot of disappointing displays from the team. We all know it is becoming harder to qualify for the CL and to win games in that competition but it is achievable if you have a disciplined side when it comes to defending. Rodgers stated he would rather lose playing his style than lose defending thing is losing is losing regardless of how you try to avoid it but there is a big difference in losing 1-0 to 6-1which is where his ego took the team

In a nutshell Millsy (y)

Humf, To answer your question, would you take winning the league every year but NOT qualifying for the champions league? Absolutely, I feel that as a club and fans we need to change our culture for us to progress. Nothing is guaranteed in football.... but football is about goals. And our main goal should be set out to get into the champions league every year.
The club would need to have strong leaders from the top down, who would spell this new approach out so that fans would know what the over all plan is and why. The whole structure of our clubs would have to be 100% geared up for the 8 qualifying games in July/august. Having the whole team, down tools at the end of May and go on holiday for June is madness. Players could and should be rested throughout the season to make up for it.
Thing is but, if we don't win the league then we don't qualify for the CL. Incidentally, this season has NOT been a failure, not as good as I might have liked but a decent chance at another treble can't be a failure, give your head a wobble, as they say in Merseyside ?

Yeah did YTS too paid £40 and got a full time job in glesga but I had a full time job afore that got paid £92 a week proud as punch so I was my mother too gave her a few shekels to go to the bingo and get smokes and give my dad a couple of quid for a bevvy yes the good auld days ?
Ah did a YTS as well and got £42 plus travel, I got more stacking shelves in the local Fyne Fair!
