Celtic FC Statement on semi finals

FOLLOWING today's SPFL Board meeting, at which it was decided that Celtic's Betfred League Cup semi-final against Hearts will now take place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Sunday, October 28, with the other semi-final between Rangers and Aberdeen being held at Hampden later the same day, Celtic Football Club has released the following statement.
The SPFL Board's decision not to hold a ballot to decide the venues of the forthcoming semi-final matches is both irrational and discriminatory.
Celtic recognised there was a genuinely difficult problem to resolve. All we asked for was equity of treatment – in other words, a simple ballot of which game went to which venue, so that all clubs would have a 50-50 chance of playing at Hampden.
We understand that those bodies consulted, including the police and broadcasters, had no preference whatsoever on which match should take place at each venue and, therefore, there was only one appropriate method of reaching a fair outcome.
The SPFL Board have been unable to produce logic or reason for turning down our modest request. Instead, they have arbitrarily decided that a chosen game should stay at Hampden and the other should go to Murrayfield.
The interests of our club and supporters have been subordinated to a diktat from the SPFL board which is as unfair as it was unnecessary.
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell was excused from the SPFL board meeting due to the subject under discussion.

A few days ago a few Celtic fans still believed our game was scheduled at night at Hampden to give us additional rest time as we are away to RB Leipzig on the Thursday night whilst Sevco were at home. Now we have been moved to Murrayfield (Hearts home ground for part of last year). However, we are now scheduled to play earlier in the day than Sevco. Nobody has explained why the 2 teams drawn first were scheduled to play second at Hampden. Now we have to accept the that despite being drawn first we are being moved. So to any Celtic fans still thinking this is anything other than discriminatory? I now wait for Hearts chums on the ground staff working their magic - long, dry grass etc.. Whilst the inconvenience for our fans is ridiculous and Edinburgh Police will be in there usual pent up state - what a shambles! Isn't it a complete surprise that Sevco and their fans have to put up with a 3pm start at the National Stadium in preparation for the final - whilst the Cup Holders are punted to a Rugby Stadium.

Lawell isn’t a victim here . He is the architect of this issue
Why?
The club, the board, Lawell and the fans are now reaping what was sowed by our own Board decisions in 2012
I’ve said on here and elsewhere Fergus would have had the lot of them jailed , titles and trophies stripped , the lot by now
By letting the corrupt poisonous crew and we know who they are away with it .. the bullies just keep abusing wee soft Celtic .
We are like the big soft Rich boy with all the goodies in the playground who gets bullied and abused and pissed over all his life by a shower of pygmies
Bring back Fergus !

Someone is up to their knees in it, that would be spfl and the shite coming from this group of lodge members.
Celtic should have been out fighting every time these incidents happen, from side letters to allowing that mob to re-enter the league without due process and 5 way agreements, this seems to be the underlying theme no due process and behind doors deals which the paying public are ignored on.

That's true, Fergus would have had them all in a court of law while this board are a spineless lot letting Celtic and it's fans get shafted time after time and to think Fergus took some amount of shit at the time.

So basically a member of the SPFL cannot sit in as it is obvious what the vote of that person would be or if not a vote then the influence would always be towards his team in their opinion, how then do we explain the decision to allow a club in its final throws of admin before liquidation to vote itself in agreement as to what division it should be in a five way agreement, the associations of Scottish football now need a good kick in the baws and told to fuck off.

Not surprised with this decision. Celtic through out its long unbroken history have always had to battle harder than the rest because of the corruption and hate towards our club, simply because of our clubs beginnings, following and success we have achieved since the clubs formation. It is time for the manager to once again motivate a Celtic team unfairly handed the tougher task. It is time to show why we are the top Club! why we are the Champions! And why no matter how much they still try to oppress and cheat our club and our people we will still raise above them all! Mon da Celts! ? ?
