My thoughts as well SG though its actually the stupid " play til the end of the phase then lift the offside flag " rule that I'm concerned with regarding injuries.
Linesman knows its offside but the rules say let it play out til end of phase, meanwhile on the field you have attackers and defenders going Hell for leather for nothing.
So in this scenario , a masterful team of the dark arts like Atleti, the defender knows its offside and likely will be called back for that, but he can scythe down the attacker and not be booked as it was offside in the first place. Have seen a few lucky players stay on the field because of this.
Yet Palma is booked for taking his shirt off for scoring when he was offside, something he wouldn't have done had he known.
There should be a time limit if not instantly a flag of 5-10 seconds so defenders and attackers are not involved in a 100% flat out battle that will end in an offside flag.
This rule is asking for trouble I'm amazed it hasn't cost anyone too much yet.

That's it SG, that is exactly it.
There's nothing wrong with the tech we see it in rugby and tennis , different games obviously but both require bang on judgements.
So if it works in those sports it should work in ours, is trying to sort out what just happened there in a scrum more difficult than figuring out what happened between 2 attackers and 3 defenders? I doubt that very much.
So it has to be , simply has to be down to those at the controls.
Those Video assistants who've somehow become the actual referee for any of the bigger decisions, referee on the the field is now the de facto assistant as its easier to just say " but var clearly showed" in hindsight etc, rather than stand up as a referee and say no I'm happy with my original ruling and it stands, how would that go down I wonder in the corridors at Mount florida?
They'll use sectarianism and other bs as reason why not to have all mic"d up so all can hear, oh that ref has had death threats etc.

This is a power struggle, that hopefully as TTQ was trying to point out will be the undoing of them all, here in Scotland which has a different landscape than other nations, due to sectarianism etc.
There's obviously the powers that be in suits and the same for the refs.
I hope he's right , all will be exposed eventually and hopefully in my lifetime though the SFA probably have records sealed longer than thr royals.

A referee, at the game is , say muir who's now breaking into the top tier ( no laughing at the back please) at the young age of 48.

If he's referee at Celtic v *Rangers ( unlikely as they'll pick one of their usual suspects) and there's a penalty being checked by var officials , Dallas, and Beaton , lets say Muir has already given the penalty in real time but in his ear is invited to look at it again on the monitor.
Is it fair to say a relative newcomer will change his mind because he's been asked to look at something he missed or stand by his ruling and dismiss the two " more experienced, more cleeked assistants?"
I'd say that he'd likely change his ruling not necessarily out of hate/dislike for Celtic or the opposite for *rangers but for his job credibility.

Chances are in his debrief " why did you not listen to Mr Dallas and Beaton?" > " because in my judgement as the referee , not the assistant I upheld my original decision having looked at the monitor and came to the conclusion I was right the first time, penalty to Celtic ".
That's not going to go down well, I suspect. A " whit? You're telling us? You know who we are? " type situation.

I suspect this is going on all over the globe, but we don't see enough, 2 assistant referees and a video expert in the room.
The two assistants cannot debate all day so one must shirley be senior to the other.

Celtic was founded on an Irish identity, Oppressed , denied an identity. That's actually a fundamental ideal in life, an identity? One that's accepted and not deprived of basic ideals? We play a scottish game of football, but the focus is never on the where we play or who we play It's on how those who deprive us of the ideal of fairness?
 
Football is helped in theory by Video Assisted Referees, but theory conflicts with reality. In Scotland VAR has never shown to be neutral. Our officials have no obligation to reveal their biases which is appalling. VAR should assist Celtic because we are the best team and compete against the refs. Sadly VAR is used as a way to deny goals to Celtic

Thanks Vigo, I love mythology. Even Santa and the forthcoming xmas could be based on those, sure you won't celebrate either? If there was not a large influence of Irish in Scotland, Celtic FC would not exist.? If the foundations you build something on are shifting sands, they fail? Our sands are fixed, our ideals, non-negotiable. Equality for all. es facil, siempre amigo, cuidate :)
 
It should only be used with dedicated, properly trained, independent, non Scottish officials and administrators, who must declare their own, and any immediate family connections or allegiances, to Scottish football clubs or associations, either past or present. Then there might be a decent chance of it being successful.
