Jonny Hayes signals Celtic exit with emotional Instagram message

Completely agree that we should have better, but the fact is we dont. Johnny was our best option, IMO, and we have allowed him to go. Let's not kid ourselves that we will sign a ready to go LB. I said on a previous thread that we dont need new signings to win the 10. Hold on to what we have while all the rest around us fall apart and we will win the league. But now our trust has to go on boli, who is not a LB and taylor who is or was to inconsistent. Lennon has a job getting at least one of these players up to speed for the new season.

Taylor is an out and out LB and Boli is a winger yet both are being asked to play a WB role that neither of them are suited to so both are suffering as a result. This is something we need to address as it happens far too often and it seems to happen under successive managers, we try to fit square pegs into round holes and when it doesn't work the players cop the flak for it, their confidence inevitably gets shattered by the criticism and they're then written off as duds or failures.

Spot on shad, give Taylor time FFS! aye can't beat a man that grows with confidence! Didn't become a bad player overnight! Cut some slack and have belief...any lenny doubters here now?

I think that Taylor can become a decent full back. He is still young it was a very big step up to have to perform every single miniute of every single game in high pressure games. He might never be the next McGrain, Gemmell or even Tierney, but he might be a reliable Jackie McNamara type servant.

Boli obviously has skills but not a great defender. It was strange that we moved to a 3-5-2 which would suit him better and he was dropped (but Lenny got it 100% right when you look at our results).

I guess Hickey is a done deal, but he is young too and so is still prone to the odd brainfart.

Boli is not a wing back either. His inabilty to beat a man in front of him then to give up the ghost has been obvious since his first game. He offers/adds nothing. Then we allow JH to leave.... absurd

Sorry double post!😂😂

So good a post that it deserved to be repeated TGS 😂(y)

Confession time......never knew much about young Taylor so was originally a bit underwhelmed when we went in for him after losing KT. Never slagged the bhoy off once though and like any new signing was happy to give the bhoy time to prove himself. From what I've seen I'd say he's a very promising LB being asked to perform a role (WB) he's not suited to, that's not the bhoy's fault. He was signed based on his performances as a LB, so that's what he should be judged on and he's hardly put a foot wrong in that regard.

If it was a WB we were after then we should have signed a WB instead of trying to shoehorn a player into a role he has no experience of. We can't keep expecting every player we sign to be versatile or adapt to varied roles within varying systems. If we allow players to play to their strengths then we'll reap the rewards if we don't then we'll likely ruin them.
