If you are intending to spend $3,250,000 as a transfer fee and perhaps $12,000 a week for perhaps the next 4 years then you have to do due diligence. If a player has a serious underlying problem then he fails the medical. This is not the case. That puts a red flag beside him forever. If he has no underlying issues then he passes the medical. No problem. The problem arises with a potential problem. Who carries the risk? The buying club, the selling club or the player. I suspect this is the issue. It is not good business to take all the risk. The division of risk is a standard negotiating approach. Think of it a bit like buying a fancy car but asking the garage who sold it to give you a guarantee.
