That's fair enough TET. It is quite clear that this humiliation has resulted in a lot of wavering supporters completely losing their faith in Lenny. I appreciate that and totally understand why so won't try to tell you that you are wrong - maybe I am being naive and just sticking my head in the sand.
As you may remember although I thought Lenny would get the job permanently I was always cautious as his approach to tactics could be quite mind boggling at times.
However I would support him and I was pleasantly surprised when he turned things around with the 3-5-2 after Dubai. Although my patience is wearing thin, I will still back him to improve things again - but he had better do it and not become a Mowbray Mark II.
The last few games have mostly been poor and last night was sickening - but sadly predictable (when you saw his line up) and very avoidable. I don't really believe Neil thought they were fantastic against Utd or Killie but was instead trying not to publicly slate his players but trying to build them up instead. Now last night he did call out the players and he is being ridiculed for throwing his players under the bus.
It would be very wrong to speculate on a public forum about a person's mental health but seeing as Neil has bravely spoken about his tough battle in the past, I think we all hope he is keeping well and has coped with this lockdown as it has been a problem for many with similar issues who are not under the extreme public pressure our manager has to endure.
The sobering aspect is we are grudingly accepting that the Europa League is our level, but we still might not make it there. A tricky one off away tie (or even home tie, seeing as we have no crowd) may trip us up again!
Probably in the same boat as you right now BB, I don't want to see Lenny go I want to see him do better.
Lenny wasn't my preferred choice, I had my concerns about him coming back, I voiced those concerns at the time and then I shut up about them after his appointment as the decision had been made and it was time to back the man. My concerns about his tactical know how never went away but I'll admit they were tempered after the home and away wins over Lazio, I thought maybe just maybe his judgement had gotten better.
So no matter how much I'm pissed off at him for last night's debacle he's still the gaffer and he still has my backing (whatever that's worth) BUT he just like everybody else is not above criticism. He needs to up his own game as well as the teams' and if that means admitting he needs sharper tactical minds around him then he needs to swallow his pride and get it done. One other thing he needs to do is show he's not afraid to stand up and call Lawell and the board out for their part in this latest shitshow because just like every other year it's their failures that drag this club down more than anybody else's.
Lenny going now would do more harm than good imo, not only will the haters smell blood in the water and try to capitalise on it but a new coach coming in this late in the day makes any recruitment in this window a near impossibility and would cause too much upheaval in the current squad.
