The greatest song ever.....

It's simple... written in 1945 by Rodgers & Hammerstein "You'll never walk alone " for the musical Carousel.
How many magical moments have we all had throughout the years singing and listening to this chorus as we made unbroken history at paradise and elsewhere....no contest. 💚🇮🇪🍀👍
I too get goosebumps whenever I hear it, also a numerous playlist from the Sixties.
The Rose by Bette Midler is amazing.

No heard The Levellers for a long time. Rediscovered the album Levelling The Land last night.

Whenever I hear " the levellers" it takes me back to the last Scottish independence referendum.
My partner ( who's irish but has lived in Scotland long enough that she qualifies to vote as a naturalized Scot) and I were at the time both big on pro- independence.
We were both certain , completely confident that the country would win independence .
Obviously we didnt and when I woke in the morning I came into the room and she was in tears playing the levellers " sold them down the river" 😂😂 true story

Makes me laugh ( my first post on this thread) where I'm talking about the family arguing over whose turn it was next to play a record on the ' radiogram' 😂.
This thing took up half the length of the living room wall , two slide open doors on top that would open and reveal the 'record player' 😂 and the radio which run down the right side of the turntable and had big round knobs the size of a green grinder, all the stations were named so you didnt have to flaff about to find Radio Luxembourg 😂 and it lit up as well.
The front had two pull open doors that were intended for storing the records but in a family of 5 siblings & ma and da 7 of us ( a medium sized family at that time) storage space at a premium meant quite often my school uniform and socks were in there instead 😂

It is simple for me. This song has been next to me to support me when my best pal died, my Dad passed away, Big Jock died in Cardiff, I got married and had a child. I know most folks in Scotland don't get him - I really don't care.

Used to get regular listenings to 'the river' great album , double album if I remember correctly with sherry darling and other good stuff on there.

Cheers Winter...a blast from the past for me
Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline, were my constant go to's, as a teenager
As far as my favourite song goes, it has to be "Gimme shelter' by the Stones
Even now, as I pull into a parking space, if it comes on, I have to sit and crank it up, and listen to the whole tune

Meet me at the Wrecking Ball. 😂
I inherited my admiration of Emmylou from my Ma', Shammy.

Didn't realise that initially because I used to humph a bit when the Sunday morning cleaning tunes came on, but as the years rolled by - those same songs carried much more weight and much more significance.

Red Dirt Girl isn't actually my favourite Emmylou song, but I do think it is in that top tier of songs ever written. No human can lay claim to have written or performed the greatest song ever, but there are certainly a few credible candidates who can put up a strong argument. I believe Emmylou is in that category (along with Kate Bush).
