If people actually followed Jesus' words instead of turning them into rules and a way to grab power the world would be a more perfect place.I'm a Pagan I hug trees & occasionally dance round them semi-naked. But religion was designed to control & fleece people, the bible is a work of fiction imo.
Wow Christopher Hitchin the aethiest Marxist writing something critical about Christians - who'd have thought. Sounds like BS to me - he said , she said....illuminate bla blai remember watching christopher hitchens talking about billy graham, and how the canadian version of graham charles templeton said to graham, i cant continue preaching this nonsense that no sensible person could be expected to believe , and graham reportedly said to him i agree but we have been doing it for so long we cant stop now as people expect it from us
It might be worth reading Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's study on life after death - she is not a religeous writer but a world respected researcher and known for her model on the stages of grief. She studied thousand sof cases and 500? where people had been 'dead' and brought back to life - there was a strange similarity in all their experiences - including blind people who report accurately having seen what had happened in the room around them whilst on their 'death' bed and when they were brought back remained blind. Just a thought there may be more to it than you have suggested.I’m a total agnostic.
I used to have to go to church every sun morning for over 18yrs thru work, I was the only mini bus driver and had to facilitate those who wished to attend and actually have to sit thru the services with them.
I saw and heard nothing in all those years that could possibly have turned me into a believer, in fact it was probably the total opposite in truth and I actually thought it just looked like a cult to me, those that were there were really into it if u know what I mean.
Yer born, ye make the most of it while yer here and then yer deid…that just about covers it for me.
Unfortunately very true but that is the extreme part of the church in the USA and the lesser reported majority are peole who try to live by faith. The world constantly tries to put down what it fears or doesn't understand- stories of love and charity across the world don't sell! The whole religion thing in america is all about the money these so called religous men and women building empires off the back of peoples beliefs and fears the mormons are a cult if theyre faith was so true why do the leaders excert so much day to day control over the full community?? Fuckin charlatans the lot of them
love nothing better than sitting in st marys on ma own,,unloading ma worries on the boss!!walk oot feeling great!!am no a holy joe, like to think am a decent human...never decry anyone’s beliefs, whatever gets you threw the day!!also love the bookies!the pub!!
Pretty sure the Russian doctrine imagines most of that - look where that got them and everyone else affected by them.Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky.................
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace..................

Still true even if folks use it as a misguided catch-phrase lolAllahu Akbar?...
If thats the case, why would such a thing be unique to humans? Surely if there is an afterlife or similar, all beings would experience such? I totally respect ur belief and opinion but there is nothing that will ever change mine or convert me to any form of religious practice, sad as it is I even e an issue with Christmas because I’m someone who sticks to his principles, its only to conform socially and for my family that I buy into that.It might be worth reading Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's study on life after death - she is not a religeous writer but a world respected researcher and known for her model on the stages of grief. I'm not sure what animals have to do with this conversation and did not try to get you to have any religious belief - all I was saying is that a couple of eminent scientists have studied those who have had near death experiences and that their conclusion is that there is an afterlife. Even Newton's first law of thermodynamics tells us that energy cannot be created or destroyed - the same he said was true of matter. If thats the case, why would such a thing be unique to humans?
