When all is said and done, it is widely accepted that our defense is not good enough in European ties, but that's the same defense that has gone all 8 domestic games this year without conceding a single goal. It wasn't just our defense that was useless, our midfield were unable to control the game and our attacking raids were anemic, easy for Valencia to deal with. All in all its not that difficult to figure out, player for player, Valencia are a far better team than us. Trying to go head to toe with teams like that is futile. As usual, we tried to patiently build from the back but 3 Valencia attackers were enough to keep us from moving the ball forward. The ball was going from Bain to Izzy, back to Bain, over to Toejam, back to Bain, out to Sumo, over to Izzy, up to Brown, back to Bain out to Boyata, on and on getting nowhere and looking as jittery as fuck. With 3 Valencia players pressing we should have had that ball up the field for players such as Edouard and Weah who should have been on from the start. In Brendan we trust? Yes domestically but not in Europe.

Let's not be negative about our chances tonight. Our attacking options are something to be feared tonight. Yes it's not our strongest defence but recently performed well even with changes.

I wasn’t being negative, I was being prophetic. And the cunt is I was right. We collapsed, couldn’t pass a baw, the defence was atrocious and looking good against shit teams at home isn’t enough. We have £38m in the bank and that needs to be spent. We were totally outclassed and compounded that by freezing and fearing passing a ball forward or taking on a man.

I thought it would turn out as it did. How long can our board fail us all? The tragic answer to that is for the foreseeable future. They have zero ambition. We have a world class support and the board takes it for granted. Shameful stewardship.

Let’s hope they bounce back on Sunday. It’s only a Scottish team, so we should have enough.

Need to broaden our brand globally and attach to a carrier of the brand, hopefully a foot in the US markets..

I was impressed with Valencia last night. Not many teams come to Paradise and do that to us. That's the standard we should aspire to. Chris Sutton called it spot on when he said Valencia were superb when they did not have the ball. Having said that though both Valencia goals were self inflicted and avoidable. No disgrace in getting beat fae a better team fae a better league.
They did not allow us to play our slick passing game in midfield and play forward passes. They played us at our own game.
We can focus on the league now without distraction, eight, nine and then ten, yee ha

The defence failed badly and this put pressure on the rest of the team, haveing said that Valencia beat us fair and square, the two goals or own fault, let's hope lessons have been learned

Not having that. Every part of the team was shite. Both goals started with being dispossessed up the pitch (my main man Calmac both times I recall) them waltzing through the midfield to be confronted by the world's worst offside trap.

Agree bad passing when in possession does not help the defences case. keeper made a couple of howler passess which thankfully were not punished, all round our high press or containment game is lacking, would have took a nil -nil last night, just don't concede at home is a must.
However, have seen stranger events in the past so will keep the faith as Celtic is my team and the team will always get my backing, regardless of our scenarios. HH

It's hard to compete with spanish clubs that can spend 35 million on one player.sometimes we get lucky and get a great result but the money for tv and sponsorship in Scotland is a pittance compared to England spain Germany and France. I know every body gets that and it's hard watching the hoops getting tanked at home but that's where we are at.may be some day a rich oil sheikh will ride in to town and shovel billions in to the club but that won't happen.what I I'm settling for is ten in a row with brendan Rodgers and Scott brown lifting the trophy who by the way is not passed it.let the basket case a cross town dream of sheikh. Our dream is real it's on the horizon. Keep er lite.

I am hoping for the day oil is not required for societies needs and maybe some Tesla electric billionaire will come to town. The futures bright, the futures green.

Before I ask, tictastic is right. We should probably stop this thread, and forgive me for extending it a wee bit longer (did I say that right?).

Agree with @boab1916 -- future is green -- but what I wanted to mention is I'm glad to see a Palestinian flag flying in this video. I am going to go out on a limb and assume that's an ultra waving that flag?

I think a lot of our fans support the Palestinians Larry.

Well seems my optimism was misplaced last night, started off well enough but after 15 - 20 mins the same old problems resurfaced. The bottom line is BR's favoured tactics of playing out from the back will not work in Europe with this group of players so we either need to ditch it or sign players who are capable of pulling it off.

This is where everything breaks down for us, opposition teams now know that all they have to do is press us high and we'll buckle under the slightest of pressure and once we do the unease and nervousness spreads throughout the team like a virus and suddenly even the most basic of passes become beyond our capabilities and the team ends up all over the shop.

Something's got to give here, either the tactics on the pitch have to change or the tactics in the boardroom have to because right now it doesn't matter who plays whether it's Gordon or Bain, Boyata, Simunovic, or Ajer, Toljan or Lustig, KT or Izzy, Brown or McGregor we always end up with the same outcome whenever teams press us.

On a side note but not totally unrelated, this team is too soft. They lack the aggression and dig that gives teams an edge and unsettles the opposition, too many not brave enough to play the forward pass so instead play it safe by going backwards or sideways as well as lacking aggression when challenging for the ball. Don't know if this is a reflection of the manager's style or a consequence of having a lot of young players lacking the necessary experience and confidence but it's becoming an issue for this team whenever opposition teams get in our faces.
