Celtic v Ferencvaros - All comments here

Cannae work out why Scales hasn't been given a run in the team yet M7....in the brief glimpses we've seen of him so far he's looked far more composed and comfortable in that LB slot than Montgomery imo.

Nothing against Montgomery, there is talent there for sure, but right now at a time when the team is in such a transition and trying to find it's feet I think he's just a bit too raw and inexperienced to be starting as many games as he is.
Montgomery is far more comfortable on the ball, a better passer, better going forward and linked up well with Jota. Scales looks like a centre half playing left back. In saying that we've seen very little of Scales so who knows what he's capable of if given a run.
I'd stick with Montgomery until Taylor is fit again. Bolingoli will probably start at the weekend.

Just returned from game, thought first half was two mediocre teams cancelling each other out but the second half was a totally dominant performance from us. Could easily have been 4 or 5.
Jota got MOTM at the game, and given he was the game changer you cant argue with that, but thought Carter-Vickers was very good, as was Starfelt (barring one brain fart in the last
couple of minutes). Turnbull had his best game in weeks and big Giakoumakis looked a handful when he came on. All in all a great result and a good performance, roll on Saturday which will be tougher against a team that sit with their whole team behind the ball.
Funny you should say that Gary because I have to agree with you about Carter Vickers but Sandman gave him less than Starfelt which I thought was strange, then again mate we all make mistakes..

i agree but coming from celtic reserves last season and having a full pre season with the manager is likely tipping the scales .... i know
you can see its a step up for montgomery too, hes inconsistent but he has good games

scales came with a great write up which is heartening.
i just read a lot of people on here that think he should be in ahead of the managers picks but
they've only seen what an hour of him
Ange has seen him every day since he signed

this thing we celtic fans have, if he's newer so he must be better
Basing my judgement on him playing regularly for Shamrock Rovers, reports from the Irish Bhoys and seeing him in what little action he's had, imho he's an all round better option than Monty
Monty's a good player in his own right, but still raw and gets caught out quite a bit
Scales has composure and physicality and that's what makes me think he should get a start
Horses for courses and it's a long season, as we all know
Apart from that, well done on leading the pack on the Euro Predictor
Still say your pogling it though :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That what the site is all about, differing opinions and no hassle

i think mediocre is pretty harsh gary,

I hear ye STG it's the manager's call at the end of the day and yer right it is a big step up for Scales coming from Shamrock to Celtic....that said Montgomery was still playing for the Celtic reserves while Scales was a first team regular for Shamrock so it's a big step up for both players.

I reckon Scales deserves a crack at it sooner rather than later {and definitely before Taylor comes back from injury) as from what we've seen of him so far he seems to have both the composure and the physicality that Montgomery is lacking a bit just now and we could certainly do with a bit more physicality in the team right now.
I thought Boli played well at the weekend. We now have a good few options at left back even with Taylor out injured

I've always looked to see who we had coming through from the young ranks and many moons ago I was able to quote the Celtic reserve teams as I followed their progress. Times have changed and in some cases we get other young boys who we see as gems from other clubs who are almost the finished article in terms of making it into the first team rather than scouting them into our development team. I can't help but think Ange sees young Monty as a great opportunity to develop a great talent through the ranks and show he will give youth a chance but he will also know Scales could be a gem.

I've always thought that he was a Tim...going back to his BBC days in our Seville run, he showed plenty enthusiasm at our goals.....maybe he's a 'Thistle' man ☺️

Regardless, I think he's one of the better commentators
He says he’s a Ross County fan. He comes from up that way. Although I’m sure I read somewhere that he was at a few games at Parkhead because his son was a Celtic fan. A few years ago.

Not just yourself Glasbhoy but many on here have been caught up with Boli's apparent rebirth after his performance at the weekend. I have to say had young Monty been fit he would not have started and given Ange did not register him for Europe I suspect that gives an indication of his future at Celtic. I am not one who condems him for his Covid breach regardless of the wrongs he displayed. I simply think he is a poor defender with no understanding of positioning and space behind him who cant be relied upon and contributes very little to attacking the opposition ...not for me but its all about opinions .

Good win, decent enough performance, should've won by a few more right enough as we passed up 3 or 4 gilt edge chances. Hopefully the bhoys will sharpen up and become a lot more clinical as the season goes on because if we start putting those chances away then it takes the pressure off and allows the whole team to settle down and find their feet in the areas that still need a bit of work.
One is as good as ten as ya canne whack it 3points that will do me onwards and upwards {Europe }nae honest mistakes only in Scotland Ya!

I'm with you on this on Shadow as I think potentially John no and the Deadner are as well. They are to my mind proving to be right about the potential and readiness of Scales as they are more aware of this boy from the Irish League ...defo like what I see.
In fairness m7 I know fuck all about the league of Ireland. It was a friend of mine who follows bohemians told me scales was the best player in the league. I only follow Celtic.
A lot of the players in the League of Ireland have jobs away from football. I don't know if scales had a separate job or not, but I think the reason we have only seen a couple of snippets of him is because he came from semi proffessional to proffessional and it's taken him a wee while to get used to that. In regards to his competition, I would have him, Montgomery or boli before Taylor.
