There's a couple of things there......

By your statement, you are suggesting that guys like Ian Wright are "closer to Celtic" than the vast majority of us, based purely on his infamous spell as a player.

That's not how that merit system works.

On another point, for those of us who are Catholic and derived from Ireland. We have had to defend ourselves in every facet and feature of Scottish society.

Being defensive about that fact, is an inherit trait.....It just goes with the territory. That is why many (NOT ALL) of us tend to express ourselves (and our background) in unison with others who feel victimised in this country.

It is the acceptance of all people, from all backgrounds which makes Celtic what it is, but please don't think that a large group of us are entirely willing to forgive being made to feel like third-class citizens by the institutions and presbyterian sensibilities of Scotland.

To be fair, stevie....many of us are products of our environment and the experiences we have had.

I'm a proud Catholic, but that is not why I support Celtic.

My Ma' and Da' were displaced natives of Ireland, but that is not why I support Celtic.

I am a progressive socialist with a leftist perspective, but that is not why I support Celtic.

My family were the most influential factor, but not based on any of the aforementioned features.

We support the club in 60, 000 different ways (and the rest).

Despite some of the disparity in our views and beliefs - there is still more that unites us as a community, than that which divides us.

Support Celtic your own way, stevie.......you have earned that right. We may disagree with someone tonight, but the liklihood is that we'll agree with the same person on another topic tomorrow.

Maria you have a good heart and a strong instincts that have served you well. You are always first to apologise when you feel your in the wrong.

So when someone gets your back up and directs personal attacks upon you, I think turning the cheek would not help mend the situation.

I joined this thread late on and didnt read all the posts. I saw the title but didnt read the opening comment. I wish I had.

I dont know the entire history of what lead to that opening remark with the attack on you personally.
