Scottish Independence

So much for the spirit of the competition.

Surely it would be an authorised official who would have to deem the pitch unplayable.

Are we seriously suggesting that our officials may be a tad partial to the huns, Boab?
The ref was called in from the village as the official ref had not traveled either, they stated the local was a grade 1 that could mean anything.

Sorry guys, went a bit awol yesterday.

Y'see, after reading all them posts, I went home from work for a coffee during my lunch, and fell asleep.......now I've never been a deluded dreamer of the unachievable, or wallowed in a grandeur unworthy of my status, but hey come on........El Presidente.......of Scotland!
....... Well that was some dream, and me, coming all the way from a doorman!
SP, and Benignus ably supported me with serried ranks of police bowing at my every word, with Richybhoy as chief whip ...... using it literally, to calm the hordes of knuckledraggers who were by now, a compliant subdued beaten bunch.....salving their torn flesh with spittle and Union Jack's.....
...when the doorbell went ...it was the gonkster....asking me how to spell megalomaniac......assisting him for his next comment on James Forrests blog.....
then......grim reality struck me like a hun accepting liquidation.....it was sore!
....however, anyone needing a shoe shine...........

but I'll take that Bute house doorman's vacancy........if it's still available.....

JC, the world is sick of "real" politicians.

They lost sight of their position generations ago, that's if they ever had a clear vision at any point throughout history. There have been exceptional politicians, but it has been their scarcity in recent decades that is the unique feature.

It's that old adage that absolute power, absolutely corrupts.

I don't think folk mind screw-ups, as long as the intentions are well-meant. It's the self-serving priority that most folk despise and the fact that unelected party whips have more authority than the elected officials.

Never give up the dream, JC, if the American system can find a place for the maniac that is Trump, then surely Scotland can be swayed by a good healthy dose of JC reality?

The whole point of independence would be to take a new broom to the political floor and to find folk who are genuinely invested in serving the public interest for reasons other than promoting their own career prospects.

As for Shammy........I'd make her head of FBI Scotland. First job is to have a thorough investigation into the federal disgrace that is sevco and indict the entire rogues gallery that was responsible for cheating the Scottish tax-payers for at least a decade.

Quite fancy having a Scottish politburo too with a state-run broadcaster and press. Let's see the daily wreckord and SBC run their anti-Celtic agenda under that direction.

If only..........

On a rather serious point....can anyone confirm or otherwise that Westminster has re-mapped the oil fields so that 90% now fall within English territory and not Scottish?
There's always been a claim on sovereign waters, but even in the worst case scenario - the major issue that either Scotland or England (or anybody for that matter) has, is that the financial outlay that has been made by Norway, USA, and to a lesser degree, British private companies is so great, that there is no feasible way anyone can compensate for this expenditure.

As an independent Republic, Scotland can lay territorial claim to waters; however - any inclusion within the EU would largely depend on those waters being available to other European fleets for fishing and farming purposes.

Then again, that is not an exhaustive argument, I'm sure there are many articles written in tiny tiny tiny print that are invisible to the naked eye and that will no doubt be prominent in the years to come.

Westminster and Europe are imo two cheeks of the same arse, true sovereignty means we would be free from the two of them, as you alluded to earlier, getting oil without deep sea drilling has maybe a decade or two left, deep sea drilling is expensive and dangerous and very risky for the environment.
The Norwegians didn't piss their oil revenues against the wall, putting money away every year for a rainy day.
They also have the best vessels in Europe to get rid of the ageing rigs and guess what, they will be making a healthy profit for their services. You are spot on when you talk about the huge benefits in renewable energy, it's the greed of the UK government that is keeping this at bay, who cares about pollution when the oil revenues are coming in.
I've long accepted that when Scotland becomes independant we will be applying for European membership on day one, while hardly filling me with joy, the fact that we are no longer ruled by the warmongering monsters of Westminster will make it easier to swallow, but the only way we will get a deal is to give up sovereignty over our waters for fishing rights.
I laugh at UK fishermen complaining about Europe and fishing rights, these were given away in the 70's by the extremely dodgy Ted Heath.

I have been reading aboot trade negotiations with the US post Brexit. American companies want to force their GM foods, milk, dairy products and beef from hormone fed cattle, upon us. These are banned under current EU rules. The EU stopped these American companies from poisoning us the way they poisoned America. Do you think the Tories will do what's best for Joe Public or do what's best for business men?
We are about to go from EU employment law to Tory employment laws.
EU law or Tory law, I know what I prefer.
God help us if ever American health care companies make "donations" to Tory election campaigns. The healthcare adverts on TV there are shocking. They have adverts that say, Socialised health care is evil and kills people, bad mouthing the NHS and so on. Mrs Rb was outraged and defended the NHS to anyone who would listen.

Never mind ah that pish though, mon the Celts, pump St Mirren, Sevco beaten to a pulp by Killie. Defoe and the hefty "journalist/player" Boyd pick up career ending injuries after a clash of egos on the plastic pitch.
4-0 to Celtic tonight is my prediction
