Agree think the Adidas deal and Magners continuation show the club understand the business and TBH European nights are great, but Europe is sort of burning itself out when you know the final places will be Spain v Germany Italy v England Spain again v Franvce and Germany again v any one of the improved europeans every yearYou had my agreement right up until the end with the the third larnark part. Also not only were Celtic in a position of power we still are. Losing the title one season in 10 doesnt mean a power shift, Celtic are still the powerhouse club and the incredible run of consecutive titles has come to an end , for a season . Celtic going the way of third larnark is ludicrous the club are amongst the top 50 in the world with a buy to sell business model, one that's very successful. That's not what's wrong with the club. It needs an overhaul in the football side of the equation and has done since it was never addressed when Rodgers left.
I didn't say anything about forgeting
im all for remembering the damage he did and we are living in
he took wealth burned it ran away
he took talent used it ran away
if you have unlimited resources and most big epl teams have as close as you can get due to the tv bungs then a glib shameless rodgers cn help your team at top end
we are not in the criteria
but part of the damage he did is make people think we are in that boat
and they want competition in signings with those clubs
And thats the fall out we are in
couple of duff signings and we are in big trouble
the safety net is gone its time to rebalance club
just like it was after Oniel
think you got mixed up with McNeil
Key point is you dont care if our club collapses coz its just success that interests you?
cause another rodgers money burner and we are goose
I dont hate rodgers
I just dont rate him
I get offended when people put him as worthy which he was not
Oh and I suspect he more of a tory than our entire board
McNeil Hay McNiel Stein Mcgrory Maley were all legends in my book
Look at my teeth is a fraud
but sometimes the superficial charm rubs off on some people especially if they get to outspend their rivals by at least 50 to 1 and have a team that started as champions before he kicked a ball
and a huge bank balance to spend and a huge operational budget to treble
under those conditions the spending spree alone can raise lots of players motivation short term
but when they get that as normal then the new guys want those mega wages or they will rock the boat.
thats the fall out
but you just want wins
dont care how he managed it
he is your hero
I totally agree torrancetim, I couldn't believe this horrible Bastard could or would sink our club any lower into the shit it is already in, but no, he thinks he can continue to rub our noses in it.Thanks Peter , another PR disaster today , furloughing the 18s for 3 weeks .
after the exuberance of dubia , this again makes us a further laughing stock , for all to see
Griff had to be left home he let us down at a time we needed him. Other clubs might not have been so lenient but we stuck by him again and again. He owes us the club the supporters all and i love him as a Celtic player but not turning up fit ? Not acceptableI agree but think that this season has just been a clusterfuck since the day griff got left home
Set the tone
That sounds like a lovely dream pod PL if he does as you say will garner more support than he could imagine but I dont see it happening though I hope like you said that he does, I wont hold my breath though HH ☘In the spirit pulling together, I would like to ask Peter Lawell to reduce his salary, to that of the computed average salary of the other CEOs in the SPFL. Also to forgo any bonus, while there are Covid restrictions in place.
Not only that BB but Celtic are not the only club sponsored by Adidas but our deal with them dwarves allI gave an awful lot of credit to Lawwell for sponsorship deals like the Adidas deal. But thinking more about it I realised I was giving him far too much credit. Remember when he started we had a strip deal with Nike who were global leaders - I remember visiting the Nou Camp superstore and there was Celtic merchandise in there. Since then we have had a few cut price deals with lesser suppliers (OK, maybe not Castore, but not far above them).
And even this deal with Adidas is not really thanks to Lawwell and his amazing persuasion and negotiations - he is merely standing on the shoulders of giants like Malley and Stein who created Celtic as a globally recognised "brand". It is mostly because of their efforts and successes that Adidas were so keen to add our fabled club to their stable.
Fair enough winter I agree it was very unprofessional from griff to return in such shape and yes it was to set a bad tone.Griff had to be left home he let us down at a time we needed him. Hi BB. Even giving him full credit for having acquired a good deal, his parsimonious behaviour and stupid policies have now blown it out of the water. Potential future sponsors will assess the deliverance and value to Adidas before becoming associated with us. I don't think they will be impressed with the "benefits" to Adidas. Associated with multiple catastrophic failures. A no no.Not only that BB but Celtic are not the only club sponsored by Adidas but our deal with them dwarves all
Agree but lawell wont go we all know it why would he? Tbf to the board ( that's not my usual line) they kept our main men, spentva lot by our standards and brought in players who werent cheap some never got the chance some did. Who's fault is it if the board back the manager and scouts and once they have it falls apart ? I'd put that one down to the management team not doing their homework properly. Not picking the right team until it's too late. Feel free all to disagree that's what this forum is for 80 % opinion 20 % fact. I dont know the ins and outs of the politics within the club but I do know that the money they spent backing lenny hasnt worked. And they did spend no-one can deny that. Lenny is old school manager. If Celtic want to maintain and better our standings then we have to invest not only in players who will come and go but also in an up to date management team. Perhaps lenny with his own team would've delivered but too late unless they have a monumental fk up of the end of the season and thats not beyond them. We have to be looking forward for a young fresh manager with new ideas or we will go backwards and the supporters wont allow that to happen be it the holding back of buyingSTs or whatever. I wasnt hanging griff out to dry just stating some truths. I hope that this season will see the board double their efforts and thank lenny for his services and make way for the next man. All the talk of howe who I'd have in a heartbeat means nothing if he is not allowed to pick his own team it will never happen if hes presented with such a scenario. I do know that there will be no shortage of takers for the job all wanting to show they can beat slippy but i think honestly that once the title is won by them he'll be gone of that I've no doubtsFair enough winter I agree it was very unprofessional from griff to return in such shape and yes it was to set a bad tone.
Before we start hanging griff out to dry, I believe this was the start of the ill discipline that has been running rampant throughout the club all season and still remains today.
There is currently a stench within the club that just seems toxic atm.
With a stench so bad, the only way you get rid of the stench is by getting rid of all of those causing it.
So let's begin with PL traitor, the smellious bastard of the lot
Absolutely correct POD. Adidas will be extremely disappointed not only with our poor showing in the league, awful performances in Europe and embarrassing PR over the last few months. We need to buck our ideas up otherwise commercially we will struggle in the future which then leads to less money for players, which is a downward spiral meaning we are more likely to struggle on the pitch.Hi BB. They will run a mile or cut the cloth accordingly.
